At Belmont University in Nashville, police say 18-year-old freshman Jillian Ludwig was walking on a track in a park when a 29-year-old suspect started shooting at a passing car. One of the bullets hit Ludwig who was rushed to the hospital and later died. NBC News’ Blayne Alexander reports.

There’s no such thing as a “stray” knife. No such thing as a “stray” stone, or a “stray” arrow. There’s only stray bullets, shot from guns, from a distance. For a person who is frustrated, depressed, angry, hatefull, unstable, criminal, psychotic or just plain stupid, the gun is a thing to have.
So, what are we going to do about this? Are we going to do something about people? About guns? About the law?
Another young American, beautiful and talented, taken from the world unnecessarily; suddenly, explosively. And all who knew her feel the shock.
Something needs to get done, that’s for sure.
Extreme sorrow for Jillian & family. Another loss of life by another monster thug released from jail time after time.
