There has been a fire exchange at the Israel-Lebanon border, with the Israeli army saying that “several” civilians were injured in an antitank missile attack launched from Lebanon.
The army said it responded by shooting at the source of the fire.
Skirmishes between Israeli forces and Shia group Hezbollah along the border have been ongoing since the start of the Gaza war on October 7. While they have remained confined in geography and scope most of the time, they appear to be gradually escalating.
Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The exchange of fire between Israel and Lebanon has been continuous and intense for the last five weeks, said Andrea Tenenti, the spokesperson of the UN Interim force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
Speaking to Al Jazeera, Tenenti said that even one of their peacekeepers was injured due to the fighting and an investigation regarding who launched the attack is ongoing.
Tenenti also highlighted that amid the fighting, “the potential for miscalculation is increasing and could trigger a wider conflict.”

The issue started in 1948 when the land itself was partitioned by the UN. Keep in mind the larger portion of the land was given to the minority (Jews who were recent immigrants) and the smaller portion was given to the majority population (the Palestinians).

creating a Jewish state in an Arab country where the Palestinian people make up the majority of the people
WILL NOT WORK. It’s really insane when you think about it because the Palestinians were again, the MAJORITY of the population. Zionism itself is not a biblical ideal but instead a national colonial idea.
Some Jews justify what they did based off the idea that the Jewish people should ‘return’ because they are descendants of king David and the Macabees from 2-3 thousand years ago. The issue with this is the Bible is not a historical document whether you choose to believe in it or not. This is not good enough evidence for kicking the already Arab population that was there OUT. It’s ludicrous that Israel’s tries to force the world to justify the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians based off being descendants from the Bible. (Again you can believe that but it is not a fact that is accepted by everybody. Point blank period.)
2) people often talk about this issue as if it’s two countries fighting against eachother. This is again false. As the state of Israel exists right now it is ONE STATE. Two groups live there (Palestinians and Jews) but they are both ruled under ONE government. Again I repeat, ONE government which is the Israeli government. (Small detail is that Israel Jews are under Israel civil law while the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza are under Israeli military law). While they are both governed by Israel they actually have different sets of laws for each group. This is the very definition of apartheid. It’s also important to note that the Palestinians do not have an army or military whereas the IDF exists as a very powerful army for the Israelis.
Yes Hamas exists, but again they only exist in Gaza and they are not an official military force nor do they have enough people to be even considered an official armed militia. There is one government and one army that rules over everybody so it’s annoying to hear people talk about it like it’s two countries fighting against eachother. It is simply not.
3) The power imbalance that exists between both sides. Often times you hear people making equivalences between both sides as if they have the same amount of power and equal footing. This is not true. Over the last 15 years there has NEVER been more Israeli deaths than Palestinian deaths.
Palestinian deaths have ALWAYS majorly outweighed
Israeli death. In fact the ratio for some years are astounding. For example, in 2014 88 Israelis died while in that same year over 2000+ Palestinians died.
There is a clear upper hand here. (the Israeli side).
Also, Israel has America backing them. America is the richest country on the earth with the most powerful military force on the earth. USA gives 4 billion dollars in taxpayer money to Israel every. Single. Year. It’s actually ignorant to stay ‘neutral’ as an American in this situation because whether you were aware of it or not, YOUR TAXPAYER money is funding what Israel does. NONE of your taxpayer money goes to Palestine. So if you stay neutral it doesn’t matter because your money is going directly to Israel and Israel ALONE. Therefore you are actually not neutral (unless you stand against it). So here we have the most powerful western nations giving billons of dollars and weapons to Israel while Palestine gets nothing. There is a CLEAR power imbalance and you must not make equivalences between them when one has military, funding, money, and power while the other does not.
3) the solution (in my own opinion) is a ONE state that is not one ethno state but a multinational state with one democracy and ONE set of laws for both people.
It will not be an only Jewish state nor will it be an only Palestinian state but a MULTI national state with ONE set of laws (like we have in America or any other country basically) . For this to occur Zionism has to fall. The very definition of Zionism is a JEWISH state.
The problem is half the country living there isn’t Jewish. This is the reason why Israeli governments want to kick out and KILL Palestinians because they want the entire land for Jewish people only. They do not want Arabs there. Zionism will have to fall for any equal rights and peace to occur. The closest thing I can compare it to is south Africa apartheid. Two people, two different laws, oppressive laws for one group of people and democratic laws for the other (white South Africans). Fun fact: Nelson Mandela
