#Colorado #Teacher #Home
This is worse than a microtel. I hope this pops soon.
J..Ews…Working on it…..patience!
@Mr. Finkelsteinburg: ‘J..Ews.’ Who/what?
Thank you for cooperating.
still trolling we see
@truthseekers how’s that?
@truthseekers 🎣
As a teacher, this is embarrassing.
I’m not a teacher, but it’s a start. Maybe a plan moving forward.
VERY COMMUNISTIC!
@F. Acostaa It’s a start, to a plan that moves ‘forward’ in the wrong direction. Your average teacher, should make average money, and that average money should be able to purchase an average dwelling. IF teachers can’t afford a place to live, what? What kind of implication does that have on our values as a society? Students building tiny homes for teachers makes me think like ‘patients building tiny homes for doctors’ When a job position is so important to the success and maintenance of a society, if we disregard teachers, we shouldn’t be surprised when we have students who become disgruntled and burnt-out as well. Anyway, I know you don’t have malintent. I’m just venting a bit.
Exactly who in their right mind would want to go into teaching now? Teachers used to be honestly respected in this country not treated like college students. This whole thing is ridiculous. Frankly teachers and all others should refuse to work in these terrible places that have draconian “zoning” benefiting only the rich, banks, Wall Street, the fake “housing market” speculation scheme.
Imagine how wild it would be if teachers could afford _actual_ homes
Why stop at teachers? EVERYONE should be able to afford a home.
So become a teacher and live in a shed? 😂
lol
But there’s a teacher shortage because nobody wants to work anymore
@SM RK if it’s so expensive in certain towns then they should have to pay an annual teacher tax based on their number of kids. Then pay that additional teacher tax… to the teachers. If the median cost of homes is sky high then the residents of said town shouldn’t have an issue affording the tax. That or just do away with teachers and use recordings or something. No way I’d love in a shed teaching rich kids.
@K I was being sarcastic, but i agree with you. I wouldn’t do this either.
Gee maybe if you guys didn’t elect people Boebert you guys would be able to pay teachers a living wage. What a pathetic and sad story.
Teachers……known as a strong Republican constituency
Colorado is a huge state and the vast majority did not vote for Boebert. Do a little research before your next rant.
How sad 😢
this is so indicative of the American values system. hard working Americans deserve better, but in many ways, are trapped in an abusive relationship with their govt, corporations and the wealthy. this report is intended to (subtly) devalue and shame professional educators.
nah, it’s just showing how Aspen has changed since I lived there.
Exactly
No one should teach in places like Aspen, serve coffee there, work I’m restaurants or grocery stores, etc. until the draconian “zoning” benefiting only the rich is reformed
Imagine teaching in America
I can’t imagine teaching self entiled students in the U$.
Welcome to a debt based economic system – the greatest scourge wrought upon humanity. If you trade your time for money you are being made worth-less as a function of the moneyprinting.
Children of business majors pretend their parents aren’t the scourge of humanity. Fun report.
Exactly they’re “trickle down” mafia inherited wealth caste system in this country more often than not the dominant most popular sect which exploit to manipulate the poor people in their own sect. It’s absolutely disgusting. And they keep making everything worse and giving themselves more and more power.
I lived in Aspen … 50 years ago, too cold. Hawaii is better and NEW homes are only half a mil.
I thought that it is difficult for haoles to buy property in Hawaii.
Good stay away
@Dave Mathews Why? it’s a state. What genius told you that. It was easier here than anywhere else.
I got the acre next to me for $9500. cost me $100. for the transaction.
Let’s see:
– build Teacher Ghettos
Or
– Pay teachers a professional’s wage.
Hmmmmmmm
You really think people that don’t work roughly about 4 months out of the year deserve more money? Why?
@Crack Shot Primarily because Teachers are PROFESSIONALS, mostly with Masters degrees, often with PhDs. Teachers should be paid commensurate with other professionals who have degrees, must pass difficult testing to start, and are constantly updating their credentials with professional development. Teachers should be paid like accountants, engineers, and similar professionals. There is no good reason that such highly trained professionals with an extremely demanding job should be paid so poorly that he or she cannot afford rent in the community where he or she works. That’s just criminal.
@Esther Paris Except the other professionals ACTUALLY WORK way more than teachers do. In that time when school is out, teachers should be getting a side job for extra income. And most teachers don’t have or need a masters nor phd to teach, fyi.
@Crack Shot Would you ask or expect an entry level professional to get a second job in order to pay rent? Then why do you ask or expect a teacher with lots of experience to hold two jobs? You clearly have no idea how much time Teachers put into their jobs. They do NOT work 8 hour days. More like 12 hour days plus weekends and holidays. You need to learn a little more about the issue. It’s insane how undervalued Teachers are, yet their work is the basis for every other career.
@Esther Paris Well, give me an example of how teachers would be working today, Thanksgiving, a holiday.
This is cool that the students are building homes for teachers, but a teacher shouldn’t have to live in a tiny home. Not every teacher might want to climb up to a loft to sleep. If a teacher did want to live in a tiny home, then this would be nice, but this as the only affordable option is not great in my opinion. My brother used to be a teacher and his area is the highest inflation in the country so if he was teaching still rent would be unaffordable near him. Although it still is.
This is pathetic actually. Imo, this is just encouraging and ignoring the main issue. Students should NOT have to do this. The govt has lots of $$$ and resources to help working Americans, but they seem to care more about ukraine and israel apparently.
What’s horrible the young students building homes for teachers, unless those students come from inherited wealth that the horrible anti-American draconian “zoning” “laws” prop up the rich at any cost to society, sadly many of those students will be homeless because there won’t even be enough “tiny homes.” I’m not against anyone wants to live in small home but it’s hard to start a family in miniscule home and no one should be forced to live in them while same time many now homeless because of this horticulture system run by “trickle down” mafia.
Thats cute and insulting to teachers.
This is admirable. But the backdrop surrounding the economy is straight up disgusting. Imagine that, affordable housing for the very people who educate the next generation. Is this how we value our educators and subsequently our children?
Apparently
It is profoundly sad and shameful that in the richest country in the world, teachers have to live in tiny houses about the size of a shed or a one car garage. This didn’t happen by accident. Republicans have been successfully starving public education for decades despite vigorous resistance from Democrats. Vote the Republicans out! There is so much wrong that could be corrected if only the Republicans were kicked out of Congress and the executive. The Republicans don’t care about working people. They only care about aggrandizing themselves financially, and kissing up to the obscenely rich.
Just say you’re an Illegal immigrant, Biden LOVES giving free food and housing to illegals, while Americans wind up on the streets
So these teachers have no families? No way can a family fit in the tiny homes comfortably.
Exactly this whole thing is horrible
Working people need to boycott as much as possible these horrible areas of draconian “zoning” that only make everyone impoverished slaves to the rich, until the draconian fake “zoning” “laws” are repealed and the whole system is honestly reformed to make housing about housing again, not speculation
What a dystopian horror… Like tiny homes are good for a single people in college or something as opposed to like sharing a room in apartment. A loft bed? Teachers are professionals, with a major degree, they should be paid a wage that put some solidly in the middle class. Not in a position of begging for scraps. When you see people constructing free tiny homes across the nation it’s for homeless people not somebody who went to college for several years to teach your children… 😣 I can’t believe they’re pushing this as a good thing too… If the most homes in that area are $3 million they should be getting enough tax money to pay the teachers a higher salary. 😮💨
💚🙏 yahhhhhh, little dude builders…… luv it
Wow! I live on a rock in the Caribbean. You should see our teachers’ homes!
Why do you put up with this?????
Matchbox houses!
Teachers living like transitional housing for the homeless.
Pretty much. Teacher ghetto.
@Esther Paris: come over to my hood and we can party with some book learning. 😂
Google supreme court case victory,
Alphabet federal court case victory
Tiny houses and little houses are a copyright and patent of alphabet and Google and a business plan. Federal contract and award winning and Nobel peace price and military award winning.
Tiny houses and tiny homes and little houses and little homes are not affordable housing.
Alphabet and Google and amazon and Facebook and meta and Tesla and Microsoft and apple mass produced these kits under federal contract and award.
The 18-956 proved the city county state’s and suburban joe Biden are Rico act violators and enslavers.
So in some states, graduating college & entering a respected profession gets you a shoebox for a home. That’s sad.
Modern day slaves doing labor foe theyre slave masters
Never what you should do, but at least your doing something…
You’re
Yet we have billions of dollars sent over to Ukraine . For all you voters are you sleeping? Or what?
Why that !!??teachers deserve better life meanwhile endless money sent to Israel
lol well it’s not the federal government’s role to determine how schools are ran. At least try to understand how the government works.
“If your not happy with your salary just work hard, re-train and earn more money” – some MAGA derp.
@2:18, those are little more than huts and an insult to people with no other option. Just imagine what could be done if some of the ultra rich who live in, or have property in Aspen, ‘turned out their pockets’ or checked ‘down the back of the sofa’. Gotta love capitalism.
I’m glad they’re doing this, but sad they have to!
This is crazy. Teachers should refuse to teach there until the city makes genuine affordable housing as in real homes. All these rich areas and unaffordable areas need to go bankrupt until they do right and get rid of draconian “zoning” to benefit the rich.
Kudos to the kids but how horrible for teachers. The disrespect is unreal. Glad I’m out.
instead of tiny homes, why not condos or townhouses?
Imagine going to college, getting a “degree” for a $50,000 job to barely afford a shed 😂😂😂
Zoning is everything with tiny homes. There’s a lot of tiny home manufacturers, trying to find a place to put it is the problem. I can afford a tiny home but I have no place to put it.
This is absolutely disgusting. We have normalized exploitation and called it charity. How can a “billionaire’s playground” not afford to pay teachers enough to afford a home that wasn’t built by unpaid child labor?
What a pathetic country. Christ.
Teachers must be paid enough to afford regular size houses. Teaching is a very important job and its importance should be reflected in good pay. Having said that I applaud the wonderful students who built affordable homes for their teachers.
