When my son was 14, he used to come and curl up near me sometimes or just hug me randomly. This is another 14 year old who has gone through things we can only have nightmares about. And he is hardly a outlier. The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported in 2019, that every year Israel arrests almost 1,000 Palestinian youngsters, some of them not yet 13. This is absolutely inhuman and not in accordance to human rights values, or any values that we hold sacred. As an American, I am deeply ashamed of my government’s unconditional support of such practices.
