The Food and Drug Administration is investigating an applesauce product that may have been responsible for the lead poisonings of dozens of children and whether an ingredient was changed to save money. NBC News’ Jesse Kirsch reports.

Shame on the fda
Wha…..?
Are you arguing we should allow kids to get poisoned?
Is it just the cinnamon flavor one ?or the brand in general?
I have apple/mango and apple/banana pouches at home in my fridge…🗑
@@jay-dubdubb2292 Well because we purchased and ate some but they weren’t cinnamon.
Money worship.
My heart goes out to the families harmed. I’m so angry feeling that lead poisoning had been eradicated since the FDA took steps to ban lead in household paints and had folks and landlords carefully oversee its removal coast to coast. Somethings never change. Sad commentary on our current state of society.
Removal coast-to-coast? Lead paint is still EVERYWHERE in old structures. My house has lead paint on both the interior and exterior. It isn’t really a problem unless you eat paint chips or create a large amount of dust. We use a high quality HEPA dust extractor rated for lead remediation any time we need to drill into a wall.
This Is Insane.
Cassia cinnamon naturally contains a high amount of coumarin, a flavour enhancer that damages the liver in high doses. It is widely used in America even though it’s banned in Europe. Ceylon cinnamon is a safer alternative since it contains only a fraction of the coumarin. It is also more expensive.
Good to know. Thank you for sharing.
@@michelejackson7934 😊
Cassia cinnamon not banned in Norway. Where in Europe do you believe it is banned?
This is disgusting.Because of the adulteration and contamination of foods in the past the Pure Food and Drug Act was passed. The book The Jungle was an expose of the meat packing industry.
Totally not trying to victim blame, but why would you give a baby this young this sugary, packaged crap? He deserves fresh fruit, slicked and blended.
I hope they and the other victims get the biggest payout. I’m so over America and it’s poison food.
Laziness. Did you see how fat they are?
The company is based in Ecuador. The major name brands in the U.S. for products like this don’t poison people with lead. Fresh fruits are best and homemade applesauce is easy to make.
@@ms200036 WanaBana, Weis, and Schnucks brands are all American, while the product is manufactured off of the Ecuadorian Coast.
Why not give your children fresh fruit?
Why sell lead products lol? What an insane question? Why is this crap allowed to be sold should be the question? Why is there any alternative at all to fresh fruit?
I think Ricky used to be Rachel
💀🎉
if your child has
lead allergies …
How do honestly KNOW that the applesauce caused that child’s speech delay??? S9me vaccines can do that as well. Some genetic testing should be done as well.
Vaccines in the past (60s and prior) did contain lead. Can you show how any modern vaccines do?
@@michelejackson7934 I’m willing to bet she won’t reply to your comment.
If she does, it will probably be something like “you’re a sheep” or “Do your own research”
@@PatG-xd8qn Probably. Not everyone will be helped by putting out correct information or asking questions that encourage critical thinking, but I’ll throw it out there for the minority that will. I only am aware of my information second hand from a trusted college professor in one of my medical assistant A.A.S. specialization courses. I have no reason to believe he’d lie about it, but it also could only be beneficial to double check.
Is this only recent, because I gave my child these products even up to a couple years ago?
You have no idea what’s in your food. There is no federal requirement to test for lead in food made domestically or imported into the United States. That means we’re using our own population as test subjects. Only after more than 60 children developed lead poisoning was the FDA able to do something. Markets need government regulation. Want your children to live? You think a second Trump administration, focused on vengeance, will mandate testing so that cinnamon banned in Ecuador for having too much lead doesn’t wind up on American grocery shelves? Want the train rolling through your town not to blow up in a toxic cloud of polyvinyl chloride because the Trump administration had rolled back an Obama-era safety requirement? Vote blue. Strengthen the FDA. Progressive policies work. Vote blue. Stop using human beings as test subjects. Vote blue. 💙💙💙
That guys a father?
Will and Grace situation
@@chechnya never watched it
These probably floated in from China.
How about FBI..
These always have some kind of issue from mold now this. Why doesn’t anyone just buy the big containers of applesauce anymore. If I can’t see in side it then how do you know what you’re really eating.
That’s why I don’t buy these type of packaging. It’s hard to tell if the product is bad or not. All these single serving stuff. What did me in was Caprisun, disgusting and those are made in the USA. After that I quit buying this type of packaging from all products. Now the lead poisoning, the company probably tried to save a buck and change supplier without due diligence. Surprise surprise what country could that be lol. This is why I don’t buy food products not made in the USA. There is barely any corporate accountability here… you can forget about it anywhere else.
@@morenothing4u Very true it’s sad how the US really doesn’t care what they give us. I’m a huge fan of buying Italian made products. I also found out that in other countries they actually spend the money to vaccinate their chickens so they can’t get salmonella. That actually blew my mind because I didn’t know that was a thing. But not here in the US they gotta save money for the dumbest reasons.
Make your own baby food! Its cheaper and so much better than these
Don’t buy food from suppliers/countries that can’t be trusted! Don’t put you and your family at risk!
Wana Bana is based in Florida, I believe.
@@peterclarke7006 The company is headquartered in Ecuador.
😢
Ricky didn’t father that child
Hugs to this family ❤ thanks for posting!

America…. where money is king.
On Reading numerous articles on contaminated food products, the conclusion is someone is working hard to reduce the human race.
An american company putting money ahead of safety, get right out of town
Whats sad is that only the families will suffer, those bozos will continue to be able to run their business as usual and make bank with their unethical practices. Put them out of business and fine them so hard they’ll be put in debt and struggle for the remainder of their lives and all will be straight
