EV charging infrastructure remains a core focus in major pushes for electric vehicle adoption. California is leading the way, encouraging EV buyers through tax rebates and credits, while many East Coast states appear to be lagging behind. What will it take for the East Coast to catch up?
Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) CEO and President Matt Petersen joins Yahoo Finance Live anchor Rachelle Akuffo to give his take on what is holding the East Coast back in EV adoption — and what could change that.
Petersen says to expect an “acceleration of charging infrastructure installation” due to the implementation of public-private partnerships and federal funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
Petersen notes the expansion of charging infrastructure is not limited to coastal areas, with plans to cover the East Coast, Southeast, and Middle America aiming to make electric vehicle charging more accessible and appealing to a broader audience. Petersen is hopeful that with this expansion more people will choose EVs and “never want to go back.”

Calif leading the nation in debt 🤗
Leading the nation in ability to bounce back.
COVID sucked. 🤷🏽♂️
All the ICE girls have entered the chat.
Who is/are FUNDING these EV Charging Infrastructure in each state? Where do one start looking for getting access to these resources? Then who will Maintain and Upgrade them as Technologies Improve?
What’s powering the chargers ? Lol
My electric bill is $1000 a month. It’s BS
Perhaps you’re on PG&E, where customers’ bills have ballooned to pay for lawsuits stemming from California forest fires, costs to bury power lines to stem future forest fires and increased fuel costs. I drive an EV, charge my EV daily, don’t use PG&E and my electric bill went up, too: around $200-360/month.
🔋⚡⛽Tesla have 51,000 Superchargers😎 on planet 🌎
Hybrid gives me a peace of mind… EVs tooooo expensive and lack of infrastructure. I’ll wait few more years. 🤔 USA is a lot bigger than just tax burden California.
Infrastructure of the grid is the major issue along with lithium resources. It’s going to be awhile before we figure that out. I’m definitely a investor for the long run but not short term.
Nivion 80A fast tesla to J1772 adapter works very well with tesla charger to charge my non tesla car
What they really meant was “Tesla builds and sells a lot of charging infrastructure in California because there’s a lot of Teslas there”. California is population dense and had good early adoption of Tesla products. It’s not that big of a deal.
The truth is, *Tesla* leads the world in EV charging.
But Yahoo can’t admit this because Tesla doesn’t pay
advertising extortion fees to far-left media outlets.
