This is the first time in history that a country has been told to prevent genocide. It is the first time in 75 years that there is an acknowledgment of the atrocities of Israel towards the Palestinians. Israel has to give a report within a month as to the preventive measures they have taken, and give the report to South Africa, whose brilliant lawyers will look through it. Not as good as I would’ve liked, but much better than I expected, given the “follow the money” thing. Proudly South African.

Most importantly, the ICJ has, in a nuanced manner, proclaimed a ceasefire. Read in between the lines.

Yes, I agree with Netanyahu that the accusation of genocide is outrageous and causing harm again on Israeli families who lost love one by the Hamas terrorist organization. UN must help the Palestinian civilians without causing exasperation the situation. UN first job is to appeal humanly possible to make sure that civilians are moved temporarily to safe place by communicating with the Israeli military, so they aren’t on the way of the military operation. Palestinian civilians must not be used as shield to protect Hamas.

I understand, but my opinion that UN must not be partial or antagonistic to a situation. Particularly, when there is a need of civilians, political judgment must be out the window. Priority must be saving lives. I believe, UN workers or automobiles must stay calm and in control of their emotions in any circumstance. Negative attitude does block others good will. If the experts at the ICJ that brought this case to court are happy about this ruling, then I must be as well. It’s not what many of us were hoping for, a call for an immediate ceasefire, but it is a start. Hopefully this ruling will call not only the Israeli authorities to task, but also any nation complicit in facilitating this crime. I have to stay hopeful, to accept that there is no hope is to accept defeat and I refuse to accept that. I pray this will have a quick ripple effect to all nations and an immediate change of course from what we’ve been seeing and what Palestinian people have been experiencing for the better. God bless.
