According to U-Haul’s 2023 growth index, many Americans moved to Texas and Florida for the fourth year. One of the reasons is that these states are no income tax states. Yahoo Finance Reporter Rebecca Chen defines what a no income tax state means and what the advantages, as well as disadvantages, are to relocating to these areas, on February 7, 2024.

If you are single with a small house, it works
The migration number speaks for itself. Even though Texas has higher property taxes, people want to move OUT of California and move TO Texas because of political corruption in California from the democratic party. California has HIGHER homelessness, crime, and more inefficiencies in the economy and in daily life. Democrats are to blame.
The problem with California is they put too many social programs in place that help homeless and help migrants so when someone becomes homeless they simply move to California. Where it hardly rains it never freezes it and it is usually sunny. I never compare homeless population in states to California.
They just poor.
Wsa she sent across the boarder by the CCP to spy on us ??????????
I don’t think it has anything to do with taxes. I think it has to do with state policies. People are leaving because they’re sick and tired of communist, california and the other. The other communist states we’re in a civil War if you haven’t noticed
For years the reason was taxes now that you see the truth you change the reason. hahah
California is broke and has a jackass governor. You’ve got to do better than that.
Ya people think they can escape income tax and forget about property tax and sales tax amongst other types of taxes for example excise tax. Instead of oh 🤷🏻♂️ investing 😅
democrates news
In CA most burgeoning areas pay about 1.5%. I’m sure the average figure stated are correct somehow, but that’s simply
not true on the street.
Half of your electric bill is a tax used to build roads here in Texas.
What?
property in California is so much more expansive compared to Texas. So, you are actually paying much more property taxes in dollars.
Lies
Bad math. Cali homes are 2-3x more expensive than Texas home
Wait wait you forgot Hawaii taxes and cost of living is BS
The numbers for California are misleading as that number is averaging in Prop 13 home ownership. Homes not subject to Prop 13 are paying much higher property taxes.
The effective rate in California is lower because of Prop 13. You should have mentioned that.
😂😂😂 what’s this, Biden propaganda finance 😂😂😂
.71% property tax on a $800K 2 bed California house = $5680. 1.6% on a $350K 4 bed Texas house = $5600.
You still get way more bang for buck in Texas. Me, a Californian.
Someone needs to understand a percentage does not mean your paying more/ less the amount means your paying more or less.
But what she’s not touching on is the fact that your home is usually worth less so the percentage amount of 1.6% does not affect how much you are paying here you’re paying .71% but the home is worth $1 million or more that’s still talking about a lot of money per year
That higher property tax rate still isn’t as expensive as the income taxes. Property values are much higher in California so that smaller percentage is still more than what Texans are paying. California also has the highest gas tax and myriad of other high taxes.
Not convinced, and you’re not an “indigenous” American. FYI.
