Jury selection began at the trial of Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who is charged with manslaughter in the death of the ‘Rust’ film’s cinematographer. Gutierrez-Reed faces up to three years in prison if prosecutors prove she was responsible for the live round in Alec Baldwin’s prop gun that killed Halyna Hutchins. NBC News’ Chloe Melas reports.

@@joebo9378 STILL IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A BLANK! WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF PUTTING HIM IN PRISON? WILL THAT BRING BACK THE DEAD GUY? WILL THAT MAKE THE DUDE NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE? This society is stupid, should just do a revolution. The are punishing him just to punish him, literally no point in doing it.
No, it wasn’t supposed to be a blank. For blocking or rehearsal, no firearm should be loaded with anything, ever, no exceptions. It shouldn’t even be a working gun, it should be a prop replica that doesn’t fire or a plastic gun. That’s 100%, no questions asked the armorer’s fault. If Baldwin goes to jail, every movie with firearms is in big, big trouble. Also it’s a dead woman, not a dead guy. @@etavio7702

The rest of the country who had the same crimes have already been found guilty and sentenced. This is sickening on how this is handled with kid gloves with all the cooperating witnesses and statements. Todays judicial system…its about who you are.
What crimes are those? I ask because clearly you know how movie sets are run and I’d like to know, too. So answer the question, please.
And you clearly do not know how crimes are categorized. Why don’t you tell the state of New Mexico they don’t know what they are doing because they do not know “How movie sets are run”. Negligence, Intent, Ignorance or Recklessness are precursors to crimes.@@hollywood6829
Baldwin pulled the trigger. 🤫
Can everyone stop trying to blame an actor for their being a live round in a gun when it shouldn’t even have been a real gun during blocking? Not only were there live rounds on a movie set, which should never, ever happen, but that dangerous clown put one of them into a real gun to be used during blocking! It’s 100% her fault. STOP IT.
She’s innocent, but her hair is guilty.
🤷🏼♂️
her hair is giving “neurodivergent” 😆
Yea she should be on trial, not alec
Or just ya know, dont have live ammo on a film set. DURRR
Why would Baldwin be liable? He didn’t load the gun with real bullets and probably thought everything was a prop. The prop person should take sole liability.
I think everything you said is true, but where he could be held accountable is for trying to make a movie on the cheap & spreading staff so thin so that no one could do their job well enough for it to be safe.
It’s because he had a lot of influence leading to her being fired and up to the pulling the trigger. He made bad choices leading to her being on set making bad choices and led to the one lady’s death and trying to hush it up with Hollywood accounting by making the husband a producer on the film where the studio if they so wish not publish the film count it as a loss for tax purposes.
About bloody time. Her attitude has been vile.
This is so typical of the socialist elite class to blame and judge one of their minions instead of the criminal that pulled the trigger. It’s amazing to me that anyone would still support the corrupt Hollywood culture.
What about Alec Baldwin?
He’s part of the Hollywood socialist elite so he’s still walking around free.
Rust the video game 😂
girl, it’s just three years in prison. take one for the team 🙄
Stupid thing to say.
She is irresponsible.
I remember this. Wow. #johnnyx100 is saying… well ..
Poor Alec, i don’t think he would do that. There’s no benefit to him to do that to anyone.
Why are live rounds even on the set? Why was a live round inserted in the gun? Who did both? Aa much as i dislike Baldwin he is not the answer to the most two important questions.
She was hired to ensure that these guns were safe, she failed
No, she wasn’t. She was hired because she was willing to work as both the armorer and the prop master and the amount she asked for was low.
Baldwin undermined her from the start. He wouldn’t authorize the purchase of locking gun cart, which meant she had no control over the firearms on the set. Also, instead of waiting for her to check the firearm, Baldwin accepted the firearm from an assistant director when the armorer was not present.
This is so typical of the socialist elite class to blame and judge one of their minions instead of the criminal that pulled the trigger. It’s amazing to me that anyone would still support the Hollywood culture.
@@SeanPat1001 As armorer, she had absolute, 100%, dictatorial control over everything to do with that gun. That’s how it works. She could’ve reported safety violations. She could’ve shut the whole production down. What she actually did was load a live round into a gun to be used in a rehearsal and then left the set. Since you don’t know how movies are made – for example, it’s not the actor’s responsibility to question who’s handing them the gun – you can’t imagine the withering incompetence and raw stupidity it took to load a live round into a gun on a movie set, much less that there was a live round anywhere near that set to being with, much less to hand a loaded gun off to an AD and leave.
But sure – the line producer definitely asked Alec Baldwin if they could “buy” a locking cart for the armorer, much less that he didn’t approve it. This whole thing really brings out the ignorance.
@@hollywood6829 Please try to stick to the facts. For one, the AD took the gun off the unlockable gun cart because he and Baldwin didn’t want to wait for the armorer.
If Baldwin had been willing to authorize the purchase of a lockable cart of if he had waited for the armorer, there may not have been an accident,
Please stop thinking you have the first clue about producing or set gun safety protocols.
Seriously. I’m not spoiling for a fight but the “fact” is that I’ve been producing movies for 30 years and I can say with authority that everything in your post is nonsense.
“Stick to the facts.” Sigh.

Wow! So, there’s actually more behind this! 😮
The shameless thing is Alex and company was trying to finish the movie after Hannah’s death.
Can you imagine Baldwin , last year having the best day of his life then this year having the worst days of his life
And that’s you concern? Not the dead person, her family or the girl they’re trying to railroad in place of the person who pulled the trigger? “ *Never trust an Actor with a Gun* “
—- Abraham Lincoln
If Alec Baldwin was a small no name actor he would be charged, he is getting away with negligent manslaughter because of his celebrity status PERIOD
She did not put blanks in the gun , free her !! 😂😂
In the article, they say something like “make no mistake, that is a real gun, not a prop.” Yes, lots of productions use REAL guns as props. They aren’t deactivated, they aren’t plugged. Real guns are also props. Live round probably made it into the revolver by mistake because she was shooting live ammo to relieve stress and probably got them mixed up (extreme work stress plus drug and alcohol use will do that to you) the fact NO ONE checked it before the unscheduled shooting (pun intended) of that scene is on her, and other staff. There is a hierarchy of hands and eyes that should pass through before anyone hands that to an actor or actress and declares “cold gun” or otherwise. She loaded it and left it unattended (again stress and inhibited by substances) she didn’t check it later, THEY didn’t check it later.
I won’t say Baldwin is guilty of straight up murder or conspiracy to commit, but he does share a lot of the blame because of his costcutting (Reed’s 2 jobs are why other veteran armorers turned the job down) and he, from what others have said, refused to take the firearms safety classes. He as an actor, and head honcho of the film, should have checked it as well to make sure. But he didn’t.
I blame Reed for her unprofessionalism. Not unprofessionalism as an armorer specifically, but her actions on this particular job that led up to the incident. I blame Baldwin for his costcutting, and negligence of safety. Also not checking the weapon. I blame other staff that should have also checked the weapons.
I’m not defending any of these people nor placing blame on any one person. They are ALL responsible to some degree no matter what anyone else says.
You don’t get to say “no matter what anyone else says” when you’re comically wrong, but this is a comments section so go ahead, I guess!
I say it her fault no offense she would do the same thing to weapons an disney marvel boys and dc comic con
