Tens of millions of Americans are under a sever weather threat as the risk zone extended from the Great Lakes to the Gulf Coast. Tornadoes were reported in several states. More torrential rain, high winds and heavy snow were in the forecast as the storm moves east. NBC News’ Morgan Chesky reports.

Normal insurance usually does not cover “Acts of God”. Most folks have to buy extra food, hurricane, earthquake, and tornado coverage. These policies can be quite costly.

Honestly when I lived on the Gulf Coast in a middle class subdivision(3 bed 2 bath 1400sq stick built house purchased in 2017 for $112,000 usd) my mortgage payment was literally less than my insurance payments. Went through 3 hurricanes. Each time having to pay insane deductibles to get repairs. Then waiting ages for repairs since the demand was so high as so many folks were affected and the contractors couldn’t keep up. Finally getting repairs just to have the insurance companies double or triple the premiums. It was ridiculous. I was lucky enough to sell at a loss, but still be able to move. Many folks couldn’t do that and were stuck. It’s a crappy cycle. I agree you rarely hear about the wealthy folks dealing with disasters unless it’s homes in Malibu sliding off cliffs. I will say those homes get hit and damaged as well. Some are built better to withstand high winds and floods so that may account for it.

Indentured slaves have been around forever. Politicians, landlords aren’t saving police officers from being shot at or hurricanes, earthquakes, viruses, they’re not saving them from any disaster. Most Military and law enforcement are middle class. Wealthy get the fame and fortune’ life styles of the rich and famous. If you want to be poor then, pay the landlord. Insurance copy are bitting off the facts politicians, policies are for the rich class. Never one way of teaching school, it has to be changed every 10 years. Yeah’ I hope you an your family are doing well. Just really sad when, stuff hits the middle class because politicians aren’t out there helping but police’ firefighters just feeling the need to but politicians, are squatting at home looking for the popcorn.
