The FAA says it’s investigating claims by a Boeing quality control engineer that sections of the 787’s fuselage were improperly fastened together and could eventually fail after thousands of flights. Boeing disputes the claims, saying the plane “is very safe” and has undergone intense stress testing. NBC News’ Tom Costello reports.

#Boeing #Whistleblower #Investigation
If it’s Boeing, I ain’t goin
He won’t survive. He better hide. 😢
Like anyone believes anything Boeing execs or PR will ever say again.
Now, however the News Media will investigate Boeing Manufacture… Yet, give the bidens a PASS…
“Intense FAA inspection” like dude they are complicit otherwise none of this would have happened
RIP Hawaiian Airlines. Should have stayed with Airbus exclusively.
Atleast put protection to the whistle blower.
You cant say he took his own life NBC thats some bs! but again thats what your all about Nothing But Crap news 🙁
software engineers are paid a bounty for finding bugs and reporting them, aerospace engineers are booted if we report a “bug” or might even get killed! imagine if Boeing paid their engineers a bounty for reporting a quality escape hole. You might get tons of notices on all of the flawed things that are ignore cuz nobody cared enough to go through countless rounds of argument with the bean counters and schedulers.
Even Software Engineers at Boeing got ignored when they’re reporting the Bugs !! They’re silenced by the upper management !!
Barnett didn’t kell himself
Epstein didn’t kell himself
They were “redrum”-ed and it was made to look like “soup of side”
787s Will fly for decades. Then it will 🛑 flying; when and wear we can’t predict.
Not sure if this is a common issue… but I was on a 787-Dreamliner flying from Amsterdam to Atlanta a week ago, and the AC in the cabin started shooting ice and water all over me and passengers in the front half of the plane shortly before taking flight. I saw it was the Dreamline and couldn’t help but feel nervous. Flight attendants dismissed the event.
NBC media all garbage. We can all see right through your lies! None of your puppets are credible
“Took his own life”??
Show me one, literally ONE person who actually believs that
Why do the American media constantly knock Boeing without stepping back and looking at the sudden scandals that hit this company soon after they announced the new 777X? Why aren’t questions asked about whether Boeing is a victim of a wider attempt by nefarious countries efforts in damaging America? I don’t believe this scandal is Boeing’s incompetence it has to do with suppliers batting for the other team and insiders working to bring down a beacon of American engineering. Surely it’s worth looking into?
They said the same thing when the first 737 max crash happened, can’t trust anything they say anymore
Let me guess……. DEI is to blame for this??? As a former Boeing engineer who happens to be black, it’s infuriating to have racist blame DEI initiatives on situations like this…….
This whistleblower is either insanely brave or insanely stupid or both. They murdered John Barnett blatantly right before he could finish giving depositions.
Boeing is safe. He didnt take his own life.
We only fly Airbus.
00:50 Don’t fool people, Boeing. 787 airframes, or all airframes of any aircraft type for that matter, do not undergo “heavy intense testing”. They are just pressure tested once before leaving the factory. Like it was done in Alaska Airlines MAX aircraft!
Manufacturer heavy tests only ONE unit for the same type, e.g. 787, 737 at the certification process. Then they guarantee the regulator, i.e. FAA in USA, EASA in Europe, that they will always manufacture compliant to the first sample. If regulator is persuaded manufacturer receives the *type certificate.*
But what happens if manufacturing quality drops in time??
At the end metal fatigue should be captured during maintenance
Super glue doesn’t last forever
Funny how Airbus is having the exact same issue with the A380 but no one makes a fuss about it.
The A380 has an aluminium fuselage which is made in a completely different way
@@12345anton6789 Airbus admitted last week that they are having an issue with gaps developing on the A380 fuselage because some fasteners were not used in construction as designed. Look it up.
Composite pressure vessel with wings? No thank you.
Thought this was decent reporting on Boeing, then 01:56 came around and it was time to dislike. You’re not getting away with that slip.
Lousy journalism, indeed. Where’s the good old “allegedly”?
Mr. Barnett lodged complain against 787
Remember that arrogant, “If it ain’t Boeing, I ain’t going” cliche? Or the Airbus = Scarebus taunt? Not hearing that much nowadays!
Uh oh. FBI and US Marshalls need to protect this whistleblower. They don’t want another Boeing whistleblower to be assassinated aka “commits suicide *wink* *wink*” again.
Keep on the bad news, bring the stock down, i am buying on the cheap!
The 787 has literally not had a single safety incident. Fake news af
@Lanes100 – Tell us you don’t know what material fatigue is without saying you don’t know what material fatigue is.
Hopefully this whistleblower doesn’t also just randomly shoot himself in the middle of testimony.
Did anybody really think this was limited to 737?
First response is “Our plane is very safe” LOL classic. Can’t even make it up.
Honestly don’t fly Boeing
The deceased older whistleblower did not die of foul play. Too many bots.
Since quite some time now whenever I fly, I check while booking if it is Boeing or Airbus and ensure I book an Airbus!
And then they show an a-330 🤣
Where are the law enforcement agencies when you need them???????
Dont trust boeing😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Boeing will have him killed too.
Safe untill people die then the blame game starts but nothing changes the junk just keep on flying!!
He didn’t take his own life.
No need for a whistleblower on that front. Al Jazeera did a really good undercover piece on the factory floor in their documentary on the 787 ages ago. Broken Dreams I think it was called. Worth the watch.
Watch out guys, Boeing is on a killstreak.
John Barnett did not commit suicide. What’s the toxicology report say?
Does anybody know what AWM99V means? People are using it in the comments of news reports taking about Boeing. Google search does not return anything relevant.
I have flight tickets booked on a 787-9, wondering if I should cancel. What a mess.
Nah you should be absolutely fine, as of now the 787 has a great safety record.
@@adamd6648 Thanks, I guess FAA will let us know.
I have booked 4 connecting flights in etihad. All four are 787. I’m really scared, but I can’t afford to throw those tickets and buy new ones. So, final decision is pretty much to cancel the vacation. In effect, when you go to a restaurant, you read reviews. This is the same, but far far worse as it’s about life safety. If a waiter says don’t go to that restaurant and he works there, you don’t go. I really don’t know what to do, one should be excited to leave for holidays, not scared to death. Fusolage problems are serious, and I can only think of a sudden break midflight.
Another whistleblower done signed his own death warrant.
No one will do anything to them, even if some great tragedy happens, because there is too much money and business and political connections at stake.
That is bullshite, he was offed by that company.
They need to protect this man and his family.
That ‘s ok, Boeing will take him out too.
Please don’t say that John Barnett took his own life. Boeing clearly killed him for being a whistleblower.
Man, the Faa needs to shut them down!!!
We know we can’t trust Boeing upper management.
Didn’t Boeing say the same on the 737 max…….. LOL like anyone will believe them
You know I watched an experimental plane from a kit being constructed with wooden parts and glue. This plane was then fabric covered. And quess what? It flew safely! Now if a few people can make a safe plane out of such material, what is Boeing excuse for their issues with a the best materials and highly trained, professional staff?
Boeing having more questions raised about safety? You don’t say. Wonder how long thus whistleblower will last. Also stop pretending like its normal for someone to delete themselves while testifying.
“Boeing says the plane should fly safely for decades”. SHOULD?! 😢
When Boeing whistle blower comes public with info like this, be warned!!! You don’t want to be their next victim…
BOYCOTT THEME…MY CHOICE, AIRBUS,SAFETY OVER PROFITS.
God’s grace and blessings for Mr Barnett, May you Rest in Peace…Boycott Boeing, Airbus safety over profits …Anyone watched the Netflix on Boeing planes and $$$$
Criminal Boeing.Republican deregulations! Criminal Trump also gutted the FAA.
A-L-U-M-I-N-I-U-M
Another assassin is about to get a little bit richer
Notice how the problem is being shifted to how it’s “maintained”? That’s because what is being said is true but won’t happen until many years down the line and Boeing can claim it wasn’t their fault.
Incoming another whistleblower “ suicide”
There are thousands of Boeing planes in the air as you read this including the MAXX DREAMLINER etc. Afraid? Those flying them are not and you are because some news reporter tells you to be afraid?😊😂😂😂😂
Boing says …. I stopped listening 😂
Standby for the imminent announcement of his su*c*de.
So disrespectful to say he took is own life even if investigations are barely started. Why hurrying so much?
FAA oversight !! Hahahhaa
What happened with the “allegedly” took his life?
Uh oh, this whistleblower is about to get really depressed and may just have to take his own life
“Took his own life”
Paper thin gaps in a fuselage that ought not to be there sound scary to me. We should not wait for crashes to make changes.
787 Screamliner. Thank you, I’ll be here all week.
Took him own life?? Who believes that?
Protect that whistleblower at all costs before another “suicide”.
Sell your stock NOW, it’s falling fast
Boeing shiuld just shut up and fix it at this point, no one believes their claims anymore
Will be dubbed The Screamliner as passengers plummet to earth
Here’s an idea for the average person: don’t step foot on ANY Boeing airplane
He “allegedly” took his own life. With all that’s going on I have no doubt that these are serious concerns about quality.
scrape the max 737 programs or scrap Boeing.
The 737 – mx programs have not had the airframes design flaws rectified whilst the dream liner as expected has quality control issues getting worse with length of service. Flaws reported have been many including cracks in the aircraft pitch fork joints potentially causing a structural failure.
McConnel-Douglas bought Boeing decades ago.
That’s when Boeing died.
McConnel-Douglas looking to top their DC series of INSANE disasters under a new name.
Why did you say Barnet took his own life? Can’t you say the clearest thing happened? Pathetic it’s because of you that actions like those still happen and slide
Nobody seems to explain what the issue is. The issue is, on some 787, when joining different pieces of the fuselage, these would not fit together, so they decided to push them together as hard as possible and then bolt them in – throughout the plane’s lifetime, those fuselage pieces will be pushing hard away from each other, at one point breaking apart
“Spent years going over everything to make sure it’s
safe” -Boeing
Yeah right
“Took his own life”
New allegations from somebody “with an axe to grind”? One guy? The MAXX is not the 787. The pilots did not know how to fly the planes in the 2 crashes. The press and media will exaggerate anything!😡
He’s not just a man he’s a whisleblower a man who is responsible for cheaking safety of jets
After becoming popular, and when one Big airline company about to re fleet their workhorse, then becoming UN popular? Is the jealous aliens still playing horseplay in the assembly floor??
Yawwwwwwnnnn. Will still fly on it to orlando in July. The whistle-blower will hopefully disappear.
KLM They won’t give me my money back for next my month 777-300 flight 😢
They murdered Barnett, stop the cap
This is way darker then how we paint other countries to be.
100% true every time I brought something up to management, I myself was retaliated on. Yet, if you bring retaliation up to HR or ethics there only there to protect the management. Now that the FAA was getting involved I couldn’t wait to talk to them, but then I opened my mouth about that and was released from the company, hmm retaliation, I think so. After I heard John get shot I’ve been afraid to speak out about anything, witch I’m sure is the deal with alot of fellow employees. But what goes around comes around good luck Boeing.
Whistle-blowers should be silenced…
Some one please save this great and leading aerospace company that is lately being targeted by negative publicity! Isn’t it a good idea to also investigate the intentions of the very whistle blowers as well?
Why is it that those too critical are quiet about a Quantas airbus A380 whose engine blew up mid flight afew years ago, or the cracks that were found in the wings of some A380 s?
Ground the jet now FAA, do your job and look into it. public safety at risk
