In a historic move, Alphabet Inc. (GOOG, GOOGL) has approved it’s first-ever quarterly dividend and also authorized a $70 billion share repurchase program. The dividend, set at $0.20 per share, will be distributed to eligible shareholders on June 17, 2024. Yahoo Finance’s Julie Hyman shared the details on April 26, 2024.

LOL 20 cents/share is only 0.11% yield that’s so low as to be meaningless.
Meaningless until they raise the dividend YoY and you reinvest the dividend to create a snowball effect and have unlimited cash like every other smart person on the planet.
@@thenotoriousgoob smart people would start with higher yield dividends if that’s the plan. Don’t get me wrong it’s nice Google is going to start paying dividends, but currently the yield is to low for it to be much of a factor in deciding whether to invest in Google or not. Do the math – even if Google raised the dividend 100% per year for 5 years it would still be less than 5% yield. Better off going with SCHD or VICI if looking to do dividend investing.
