Insane to see it happen? I just don’t understand how the most entitled kids in the history of the world can paint themselves as victims of their university while they’re supposedly concerned about Palestinians. Didn’t hear this young person even mention Palestine. He’s more concerned with protest rights at his Ivey League school. It’s “insane” to see that happen.

The fact that she is Jewish didn’t influence her at all. But all of them who are guilty of saying pro Hamas etc. are wrong. I support Palestine but I certainly don’t support Hamas. And I’m anti Zionist but not anti Jew.

I blocked my neighbours drive way with my truck so he couldn’t get his car out in protest because he played his music too loud. I was bewildered when the police towed it away. Neither the neighbour or authorities would budge when I tried to negotiate me to move my truck. And now have to face court just because he wouldn’t do what I told him to do? WTF
our free speech rights have been violated! I have the right to tell him to turn his music down and he must do it because it is my freedom!

I would first approach him and try to reason, give him a voice so I can understand why he plays his music so loud. I would also explain how this impacts me. This creates empathy, an understanding of each others side of the story. From there, we can find a common solution. The moral my sarcasm points at is freedom of speech. In a democracy, we have the right to a voice and platforms are provided for this. One of them is protest. We have that right “Freedom of Speech” using Protest”. That does not give anyone the right to deprive anyone else of their rights. Everyone has the right for speech and everyone has the right to freedom of passage, including freedom to conduct business with any legal entity.
What these “protest” are doing is attempting to force everyone to comply with their narrative by taking away everyone else’s freedoms. The “negotiation” is if you want your freedom back, you must meet my demands.

You may forget this, but there were indeed protests, rejections of Russia by many organisations and events, people losing their positions as representatives, etc. There was no need for widespread protesting at universities because they weren’t opposing Ukraine and funding Russia’s war machine.
Power in the Russia/Ukraine situation has been balanced by Western military aid. The ongoing debates are about whether to continue doing so.
In the case of Palestine, there is no balance of power. Palestinian civilians don’t have an adequate defence against the military action occurring. The humanitarian situation is significantly worse and affects more of the population than what is happening in Ukraine (although both need help). Additionally, a record number of civilians, journalists and aid workers are being killed by the supposed “good guys”.
When one side claims moral superiority over another, they are open to scrutiny. When they commit war crimes, they aren’t morally superior. When both sides commit war crimes, a ceasefire and charges must be ordered by the international community.
Negotiations usually fall apart when you demand the use of your silly pronouns. So there’s that.
