Two teens who were seen on a viral video dumping trash into the ocean off the coast of Florida have turned themselves in. Officials say they both face felony third-degree charges of causing pollution so as to harm or injure human health or welfare, animal, plant, aquatic life or property. WTVJ’s Niko Clemmons reports.

Despicable bunch.
Why were all these “minor children” operating a large watercraft out in the open ocean by themselfs unsupervised ? That shouldnt even be legal but i assume it is because no ones brought it up in the story. Its a great example of “just because you can doesn’t mean you should”. As a parent i cant imagine turning my young teenage child loose in a $100,000+ boat and pointing them towards the open ocean. Especially when they demonstrate this level of maturity.
I had to look it up, but you’re legal to operate a personal watercraft in Florida at age 14. That doesn’t make sense to me.
Of course the parents knew the boat went out with trash… I mean who lets teens operate that expensive a boat without knowledge of what’s in the boat. There needs to be more thorough consequences
What? I doubt the boat left the dock with a full garbage can. The kids probably ate a bunch of snacks and drank a bunch of…soda, and filled the can themselves throughout the day. And what kind of parent says, “Here are the keys to daddy’s fast boat. Go gave fun with your immature buddies on the dangerous ocean, not wearing life vests! Oh crap, I have to get the trash out of it first!! What kind of mother would I be if I didn’t clean it out for you??”
Wait until they see what they have to do on Navy ships..
Triggering moral outrage in adults by literally sh!tt!ng on our “sacred cows” is endemic of the TikTok/Trump era… where anguish and anger is the goal…garnering the negative (mostly consequence-free) attention they desire. We have a generation of young people who don’t have a shared social contract theory.
🙄
I doubt these kids have parents, more like sperm donors with bank accounts. Lawyers and fines will be paid by them and the privileged adolescent behavior will continue.
That father never learn that’s never to early to start disciplining children.
“A teaching moment!”
WHY are we mad, it just gonna end up in the Ocean anyway…
They learned it from the pajeeters
It’s pure arrogance. From teenagers. Shame on their parents for allowing them to be this way.
I was not a perfect parent but my son would NEVER have been so disrespectful. Not to laws, not to the ocean, not to the planet. Really tired of arrogant pipsqueaks.
These kids were steeped in the APGW religion. I’m sure they virtue-signal when convenient.
No education on local geography?
Ask them to clean the ocean. Where they waisted the garbages.
So their names are Gulf Stream and Boynton Beach?
No wonder why mother nature is angry!
I watched it happen every night on a cruise i took in 1998. Nobody cared about the ship dumping trash overboard. They did it very late at night.
Jail time !!!!…I’ve noticed garbage by rail road tracks .etc..being dumped more and more…
Send to teens to Gaza for community work.
Shame on them
Make them clean the beach by hand.
The ocean is humongous. No harm. No foul.
so sounds like the parents are complacent also they neither sounded like they were bothered with how their kids were acting
That’s disgusting
The rotten apples don’t fall far from the entitled trees.
15 and 16 years old. We all know they ALWAYS make good decisions. Pelosi wants to give the vote to 16 year olds. Wants to let them cut off body parts years before that without parents consent and with the help of schools. I’ve always found 15 and 16 year old judgment in ALL situations to be flawless.
Slow news day
Someone was driving the he🏒🏒 outta that ⛴️
its like slaping god in the face what people doing to this planet .
“young kids”? If you can go out on the ocean without your parents you are not a “young kid”.
Idiots who are dumping garbage in the ocean for nothing but destroying the marine environment made me sick to see this. It’s infuriating and goes beyond anyone’s comprehension.
Ahhhhhh a new classification. Young Florida Man 😂😂😂
Teachable moment for rich, entitled, and privileged kid to live 24/7 in a jail cell to see how it feels living without Daddy’s money!
This is wrong. Although, comparing this to what “rich and spoiled kids” did back in the 80s and 90s, it’s not that bad. They shouldnt be felons for it. The triple 350hp outboard motors are probably polluting just as much.
Deplorable people? In Florida???
Entitled trash
Community service doesn’t work for rich entitled kids, after their couple of hours picking up garbage on the beach; they’ll head out on family’s million dollar yacht to relax after having to work for the first time in their lives!
cái lủ xướng ca vô loại cộng thêm cái con kỳ duyên láo xáo tụi bây là lủ nói láo để lất tiền quảng cáo ,ai ngu lắm mới mua thuốc để uống
Why is this NBC news? Oh that’s right, NBC is mad that they have competition with the garbage they spew.
If they are “adult” enough to drive a boat, they should also man up and face the consequences. I hope people that live in the area are enraged about this.
Why bother with the trash cans at all? If you’re just going to dump them into the ocean you could’ve just thrown trash in there a piece at a time from the very beginning. This was asinine.
you have to be a very disgusting individual to even think of doing something like that. 10 years community service
What do you expect when we have an educational system which denies reality?
Gross – and the dad doesn’t care at all? He should be upset with his son for his current lack of character. That character reflects on the dad too after all.
Jail! 30 days!
Longer
Greta Thunberg is saying “How dare you!” watching this.
Affluenza strikes again!
I couldn’t even afford one of those outboard motors. Here I am recycling and crap.
THAT IS GOING TO HURT MY HEAD TODAY – HOW SAD
ROTFLMAO … you do know that CRUISE SHIPS do this all the time right?
Sadly, U.S. laws allow cruise ships to dump waste into the ocean as long as the ships are more than three and a half miles offshore (out of sight, out of mind and likely not to be filmed). That means that dirty water from sinks and showers and laundry facilities are discharged into the water. It means that waste from toilets is discharged into the water. And it also means that food waste is also dumped into the ocean. They also dump garbage into the ocean too so this seems to be the the pot calling the kettle black 🤣
Remember when Canada was shipping it’s garbage to the Philippines to be recycled which ultimately turned out to be a big LIE … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eauaTzEDQWg
I guess the point being that if your a woke-country or a multi-billion dollar corporation then that kind of behavior is legal but is totally unacceptable otherwise 😈
So that’s how Florida man started
Cruise ships do that every day.
Cruise ships dump raw sewage and garbage into the ocean every day. Billions of gallons. Plus, all the plastic. How many people on board, 3000? Multiply by how many flushes?
America is failing.
They’re such good boys!
Parents!
They should have gone further out to sea first, like New York does with their tons and tons of toxic waste. No problem!
Idiots!
Always Florida
The parent who said my son is a minor comment is a garbage parent for taking ownership of their bad parenting
Shame on them! Terrible. 🚮
Of course deathsantis won’t say a word about it.
I watched Carnival Cruise Lines dump bags and bags of trash into the Atlantic Ocean one night around 3am when I was on a cruise in the late 80’s/early 90’s. I’ll never cruise with them again because of it.
Who cares🎉
This disgust me.. I hope they are held accountable
Young republikkkans.
but theyre trumpists… what do you expect?
Typical privileged beats, they never had to work a day in their life, mommy and daddy will cover for them,
Yt privilege🤨
Wow what a cocky response from the father! Monkey 🙈 see monkey do ~ not for sure he’s teaching his son respect for the environment or accountability. God has given us this amazing gift, a live stunning portrait and you get to add to this beautiful collection and yet you your appreciation is lost. Of age or minor you have to pay to play. Instead they chose to add to the laying waste of our oceans and marine wildlife.
I’m not condoning dumping garbage in the ocean, but if I had gone to prison for every stupid thing I did as a teenager, I’d still be in prison. It’s not like these kids are Monsanto or Pfizer, companies who dump tons of pollutants into rivers and oceans every single day.
Uh no, jail time. Jail. Community service is for parking tickets. Have you “teaching moment” in jail, you failed parents, you didn’t teach them anything and it shows. And get out of my Florida, I’m sure I speak for all Floridians except for your parents, get out.
One of the parents said, “this is not a representation of who we are.” Uh, yeah, I think it is.
What about the captain, he or she should be accountable also. I wonder how many more are doing this? Sad…
Disgusting Human
That’s Awful
What Losers
How about instead of no comment, you say something like “We have failed as parents”……the truth will set you free.
I mean…is anyone actually shocked? It’s Florida
*FLORIDA* that’s how they raise their kids down there.
What a civilised citizen
🥸 litterbug’s mom: “my boy has learned his lesson. I gave him a good ol’ timeout, so no fines or jail time needed…” 👩🏼🍼💕💩🤦🏻♂️
Show their faces!
Hopefully they receive jail time, but what else can you expect from Boca trash. Great parenting Boca families.
1:08 we’ve been taught this since elementary school. They were aware of there actions!
“My son is a minor child, and we have no comments.” There, you can see the source of the problem.
What else have they been dumping? They did however dump the wrong trash. Pretentious, spoiled brats and laughing while doing it. Let’s see their face and names. Old enough to do this, old enough to be treated as an adult. 😡
These teens don’t deserve to go to jail for this, but they can still be punished seriously enough in some way and be made an example of at the same time.
Somewhere on some USS ship at night…(cough) night ops (cough)(cough)
If they were dumping garbage, these 2 should have also jumped in
I am wondering which of these young men might have seen their Dads or another family friend, dumping garbage off of a boat.
Somewhere in their lives, I’m guessing that this was a learned behavior!
Whitivity
Didn’t anyone on the boat try to stop or say anything to them about doing it ,everyone on the boat needs to be charged.
They were most likely beer cans. They got lucky
Their parents are pillars of the community. (Not)
My child is a minor… drinking alcohol on a $200,000 boat.
Nothing will happens .. those millionaire’s are untouchable.
If you’re old enough to captain a boat, you are no longer a minor as a boat can be considered in a court of law as a lethal weapon. The owner of the boat should also be charged as they are responsible for everything that happens on their vessel
Anyone know what happens to plastic once in the recycling dump? Research this.
My son is a minor child that can drive a $50,000 boat and empty trash in the ocean. We have no comment.
I wonder how many marine animals died because of those kids !
Reported for false title. You said they dumped garbage in the ocean, but the garbage was still on the boat…
