A founder is the “captain of the ship” and starts a company to bring to life a vision they had, not to serve the interest of their investors, said Shailendra Singh, managing director at venture capitalist firm Peak XV.
He said it is important for founders to stay focused on that starting vision and drive clarity and alignment among stakeholders, which leads to a good relationship.
Singh leads Peak XV Partners, formerly known as Sequoia Capital India and Southeast Asia, and has invested in more than 400 companies in Asia.
