April’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) saw inflation come in lower than expected. However, prices continue to remain elevated in several areas. Yahoo Finance’s Alexandra Canal breaks down where consumers feel inflation hit the hardest.
Shelter and gas were two of the biggest contributors to overall inflation. Gas prices rose 2.8% from March to April, and the index for shelter rose 5.5% year over year. Apparel also rose, with prices increasing 1.2% month over month, making it the largest rise in the category this year so far.
Motor vehicle insurance, medical care, and personal care also saw notable upticks in inflation, impacting nearly every part of the consumer’s day-to-day.

Minimum wage jobs
Theres always some excuse when the data is bad. Inflation is sticky but Powell wants to cut for Biden.
Wasnt the estimate anyway 0.3 instead of 0.4? I think 0.4 would have been bad for the market.
Food has doubled in the last year. Rents are up. Gas is higher. Medical dental and medications are through the roof. Taxes are higher since everything costs more. Clothing is outrageous. Honestly what hasn’t gone up? Oh wages and social security hasn’t gone up.
Food isn’t expensive, and I’m still not being impacted by inflation.
Cool
Insurance, gas prices, fast food, groceries, rent and the list goes on. Biden will lose.
Not groceries though
