Neither the Biden nor Trump administrations are good for China from the country’s perspective, said Cheng Li, a professor at the University of Hong Kong.
While a second Biden administration offers some stability as the current president is expected to continue his policies, China does not like Biden’s attempts to contain the country’s growing power, said Li.
He also said that it is “dangerous” for Biden to frame the U.S.-China conflict in terms of democratic versus authoritarian regimes, as this would push China into a corner with other countries facing similar pressures exerted by the U.S.
