Six passengers and six crew members aboard a Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Dublin were injured by turbulence while the plane was over Turkey, according to Dublin Airport. The incident comes just days after the death of one passenger and hospitalization of dozens of others aboard a Singapore Airlines flight that also hit severe turbulence. NBC News’ Dana Griffin reports.

Fasten those seatbelts 😮
Is anyone surprised that it’s a Boeing?
Not even surprised at this point. Most of the aviation incidents now are all Boeing. They’re doing a really good job by giving Airbus free marketing.
Boeing has no control over turbulence, neither does Air Bus. They recommend keeping your seat belt on even when the light is off indicating it’s okay to move around. Unless you’re going to the lavatory you’re crazy if you don’t, clear air turbulence is just that…clear air. It’s not usually detectable unless other pilots have already encountered it and reported it.
@@bobjones1999Boeing has no control over clear air turbulence, neither does airbus.

For all you blaming Boeing, Air Bus also encounters it, there not really a way to forecast clear air turbulence. That’s why the flight attendants will usually tell you to keep your seatbelt fashioned unless you’re actually getting up to use the lavatory.
Maybe, but every single incident these days are Boeing
@@shaungordon9737 Almost as if they’re the largest aircraft manufacturer in the world
@@shaungordon9737 Airbus isn’t immune to issues with severe turbulence either. They just had a serious incident the other day; “A Turkish Airlines Airbus A321 flight from Istanbul to Izmir faced severe turbulence recently, enough to cause a significant injury to a cabin crew member. According to a report by the Hurriyet Daily News, the plane was rocked by sudden turbulence shortly after the pilot turned on the sign to fasten the seat belts.” They also had major injuries on an Airbus A-320 on a flight in December.
However since Boeing is a US company the media not only reports any new information they a,so dredge up all the past issues too, like the Max and Dreamliner. The door plug failure was caused by a supplier not installing the plug properly, and the interior finish of the plane hides the fact that bolts were missing. Boeing doesn’t completely manufacture all the parts of a plane, they use contractors too. So, should Boeing have periodically partially disassembled the fuselage to do a quality check of Spirit’s work? Sure, but since they had been a trusted contractor for a long time that wasn’t done and even then the quality check might not have been on a plane with missing door bolts. If they were going to disassemble every air frame upon delivery they might as well not use the contractor.

Qatar Airways Crew Continued to Serve After Being Injured in Severe Turbulence
On Sunday, Qatar Airways flight QR017 from Doha to Dublin encountered severe turbulence about two hours into its journey. While delivering the main meal service, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner suddenly dropped without warning, causing crew and passengers not wearing seatbelts to hit the aircraft ceiling.
Once the aircraft regained control over Turkey, passengers described a chaotic scene with food splattered across the cabin and injured crew members trying to assist injured passengers. Despite six crew members and six passengers sustaining injuries, the airline continued the 7.5-hour journey to Ireland. Eight of the injured required hospital care upon arrival.
The decision to proceed with the remaining five-hour journey instead of returning to Doha forced injured crew members to continue their service duties, according to passenger reports to the BBC.
Passenger Paul Mocc told the BBC that he saw people hitting the roof and many crew members sustaining injuries; despite this, he noted that the bandaged and limping crew continued to serve passengers.
Qatar Airways has a history of strict management practices. It is often criticized for using fear tactics to control its crew and for neglecting their welfare. Recent reports from Qatar Crew revealed that the airline made as many as 600 cabin crew redundant without warning.
According to those who spoke under the promise of anonymity, many of whom had periods of medical leave due to sickness and injuries sustained while on duty.
