Nvidia is deep deep fcn value
Literally
Cisco bought many companies to get where they were. Nvidia develops 90% of its stuff, half of the rest like SDR didn’t meet efficiency requirements. There’s a lot of development to go from GPT to reliable AI that doesn’t hallucinate. Elon is also understanding the work ahead, 5 years of wandering around to get autopilot to reasonable performance. Possibly 5 more years to solid expert.
Nvidia’s customers are speculating on what they can do, and lots of money floating around wants to own the next wave of tech, and the competition is crazy, but not enough of them have good enough experts to jump ahead. Look at Google’s lack of movement in the last 5 years, they were the AI poster child for a while, but failed to keep their R&D tightly coupled to their revenue.
Most of Nvidia staff is R&D, writing new software and hardware every year, wave after wave. That’s why they blew away a dozen graphics competitors since 2000. There’s only 4 left, and only one could ever be a threat.
The next wave of research is science, but more specifically medicine, to handle the issues we haven’t figured out in the last century. From mapping the genome, to mapping quantum effects, proteins, new molecules, new atomic layering for solar panels, fusion simulations, there isn’t a hot endeavor in science that isn’t using compute. We also need to improve the efficiency, which may be beyond the ability of the human brain to grasp the finite details of. Who could possibly manually quantify the likelihood of millions of molecules to be the answer for covid?
You obviously don’t understand the difficulty of steering science to new heights.
It’s different, they make things no one else can…and they had the process established a long time ago…plus Nvidia’s 100-dollar ‘router’ costs 40K
This guys’ 2mins of spotlight.
