Ukraine is pushing in its efforts to turn the tables on Russia, its military crossing over the border and taking control of multiple towns. Leaders in Ukraine tell NBC News’ Erin McLaughlin it’s part of an effort to get Putin to refocus his forces on defending Russian land and abandon the position they have inside Ukraine.

One of the first rules of war, is to never keep forces defending a territory and under the same rule to keep forces to try to besiege a city.
The army has to always keep moving.
That was the mistake of napoleon and Hitler in Russia. Instead of continuing advancing, they lose time, men and resources trying to take a city, when finally napoleon got in, they Russians burned the city down and he become king of a flaming pile of rubble. That is also the mistake of Putin. Trying to defend a city, he has lose the war, as he lose momentum.
We have to recognize Hitler’s cleverness with the sickle maneuver.
You never face the enemy face first, you attack its back and cut its supply lines, making them starve to death.
Best French general (Foch), had this saying that was “attack and when in doubt, attack again!”.
Similar to what generals Paton, Grant and MacArthur.
When in war, the safest place is the front, at 95% if casualties are not due to enemy fire, but due to problems with supply chain.

From tactical perspective, it’s probably right, you should counter attack, because you can’t constantly be at defense. However it plays to the story that “Russia preemptively attack Ukraine, because they was afraid that Ukraine will attack them.” Now we see that Ukraine, loaded with Western weapons is quite capable, and actually attacked Russia. What going to be next, if Russia will keep loosing it’s territories? Peace negotiations? Or escalation? Or something else which scary to think of?
