Volkswagen’s potential factory closures: approximately 500,000 unsold cars annually

Senior executives at Volkswagen have informed employees in Germany that the company has “one, maybe two” years to adjust to a decline in car sales across Europe. The announcement came during a meeting attended by around 16,000 union representatives and workers at the company’s headquarters in Wolfsburg. The staff are outraged by the company’s inability to guarantee job security and the possibility of factory closures.
