So many misconceptions about the China stock markets that, unlike the large population of the Western investing cultures and institutions in investing their pensions and savings in their stock markets, Chinese don’t.
Yes, the figure I’ve heard is 70% of US and Canadian households have their investment portfolio tied up in the stock market, in most cases their retirement savings. In China, the figure is 10%. So when the S&P goes down 10%, that’s a huge deal for a lot of people. But when Shanghai goes down by 1/2, most Chinese don’t really care.

Considering the fact Chinese stocks are in single digit P/Es when Europe is in the midteens, and US is over 20, there’s a pretty compelling bull case.
It’s possible to stay cheap forever tho. China population is shrinking. That’s the biggest problem
@@johnchen0213 I’m not sure of the correlation between population size and stock value, If that were the case, Japan and Europe which has much worse population decline issues would have similar multiples but they don’t.. Japan is also in the 20s and Europe in midteens.
