They’re shocked because he has a lot of employees who are getting weekly checks. Any business that takes two weeks to turn a profit on one item would get the same reaction from anyone. Impressive that he makes it work.

Not the same thing.
Money comes in, but it’s not more than what was spent to produce it.
This is a prime example of how so many rich trust fund kids are getting into YouTube…. I start a channel as a business write off and the channel never makes money… There’s no way a couple brand videos are going to pay back all the money he’s lost building the audience in the first place.
@@kingcort8073Agreed! Especially considering other short form content creators have expressed and admitted that their content wasn’t sustainable. It wasn’t like they weren’t getting *any* money but it wasn’t enough to pay back the budget of the type of video being made.
I believe it was a huge thing for comedy sketch YouTubers. I vaguely remember Smosh talking about it, that the cost of production did not always equal out to a solid profit to live off of.
Even though now we have TikTok’s, YT Shorts, Instagram Reels among other things- I don’t think the cost average equals something sustainable (I’ve seen some creators get like 2$ off a viral video on TikTok) all the time unless they’re being sponsored.
As you said it doesn’t mean they’re not making money, as Zach mentioned they do other partake in productions from other companies to gain revenue to put back into videos.

Graham, I’ve noticed that you seem to have a hard time understanding why anyone would spend money if there isn’t an immediate or a definite return on money. This isn’t a good mindset, it’s a scarcity mindset. Sometimes people like to make money simply to spend it and they don’t worry about running out. It feels like you’re always scared of running out of money. Why?
Thats a smart business model. You create content that goes viral, that gives you credibility. And use that to get clients. Its almost like a marketing campaign.
So it’s called speckwork, you pretty much just do work in hopes of getting work, because again, nobody’s going to give you work that you haven’t done 90% of the time. Don’t get me wrong. Sometimes you can just b******* and charisma your way into it like I did with my very first piece of work. I got paid $1300. For a 2 day shoot plus room and board in a nice hotel. Just because I was more charismatic than the other guy who actually had experience and every time they asked me about my experience, I was able to finangle my way around it and I did well and they’re happy with it and they still don’t know I did it. And because my account is entirely disconnected, I can say this here with no repercussions

How’s that even possible? If it’s not making them any money why keep doing it?
Everything’s not about how much money you make from it. Sometimes people just love what they do despite earning money from it
If you’re spending that much money on it,it needs to be made back in some way or you’re not going to be making things you like for very long.
