In this video Stefan answers a question he commonly gets such as if one can publish a Kindle book under a pen name.
“Very common in the publishing industry pen name also known as a pseudo name, it’s basically a made-up name. This is very common especially amongst the fiction market, fiction authors and publishers.
Mark Twain is probably the most famous pen name or made-up name out there. When you publish your Kindle book in KDP it gives you the option of selecting the contributor for your book so you can input whatever author name you want.
You can make up an author name that’s totally fine and acceptable.”

can you make a course specific to publishing fiction books at kindle?

But! Do they need to sign custom agreement for transfering the commercial rights to the work or accepting a job posting on freelancer’s site is enough?
@Tom Kalowski When I work with a company to write my books, I often don’t. However, if I’m hiring an individual freelancer writer, then I send them the ghostwriter agreement. This is a bonus that I include in my course (I paid a lawyer to create it for me and my students).
As far as hiring a ghostwriter, I completely understand the math. On the other hand, aren’t you concerned that, with everyone hiring out multiple ghostwriters via elance, etc., that the market is getting flooded with product and the market will become too crowded?
@Jonathan Lee No, because it doesn’t matter how many books are in a market. The biggest markets out there (like weight loss) all have a lot of books published in those markets. What matters is how well you market your book and ranking it ahead of all of those other books. Most authors and publishers on Kindle have no idea what they’re doing or how to market their book, so it actually makes it quite easy if you have the right strategy and are willing to do a bit of work.

hi. first, in using pen name, is the real name won’t appear anywhere inside the book? let say under copyright information or as publisher? second, in hiring ghost writer, what’s the chance of being at risk of plagiarism? thanks
Question: If you are publishing under a pen name – what is there to stop someone else saying ‘hey that is my book, you have stole that from me and published it’ ? I.e. What would happen if I turned around and said – “I wrote your mastery book and you published it without my permission, give me money now! ? Sorry if that seems a silly question, I am sure it is something which happens super rarely too!
If you own the rights to your work and copyrights, how would this happen? It’s impossible.

I am sure this is just a temporary knowledge gap 🙂
Hi Stefan, can you legally make up a completely fake bio for your pen name authors, E.G. “John Smith has a PHD in clinical psychology and has been working in the area for over 20 years”?
No, never lie or make things up in your marketing.
