Internal disagreements within the US government over how the administration is dealing with Israel’s actions in Gaza has led to a steady stream of resignations. At least seven officials have resigned since October. Last week, a senior State Department official quit over a report that denied Israel has been blocking aid to Gaza. Stacy Gilbert is the former State Department employee who resigned over that report. A spokesperson for the Israeli government says Israel is ready to stop its war on Gaza to return captives. Hospitals in Gaza have been treating the wounded since the war began, but they have been constantly overwhelmed. Many patients have no choice but to sleep on the floor, and some require help that the hospitals are unable to provide. Due to the closure of the Rafah crossing to Egypt, patients cannot receive necessary treatment abroad. The Israeli blockade is also denying Gaza’s hospitals essential medical supplies, worsening the situation.
