A man opened fire this morning on the US Embassy in Lebanon, in Awkar, north of Beirut, injuring someone inside the building. Several Lebanese media outlets initially reported hearing shots. The Lebanese army released a statement confirming the incident, stating that a person of Syrian nationality was responsible for the shooting and was “wounded” by the army as it “responded to the sources of the fire.” He was subsequently arrested and taken to hospital for treatment. Hospitals in Gaza have been treating the wounded since the war began, but they have been constantly overwhelmed. Many patients have no choice but to sleep on the floor, and some require help that the hospitals are unable to provide. Due to the closure of the Rafah crossing to Egypt, patients cannot receive necessary treatment abroad.
