Heavy gunfire heard near presidential palace in Guinea-Bissau

Heavy gunfire has been heard in the capital of Guinea-Bissau near the seat of the government, according to media reports. Heavily-armed men surrounded the Palace of Government on Tuesday, where President Umaro Sissoco Embalo and Prime Minister Nuno Gomes Nabiam were believed to have gone to attend a cabinet meeting. The presidential palace is located on the edge of the capital close to the airport. Protests, anger as Hun Sen visits Myanmar’s military leaders

India orders deportation of migrants who fled Myanmar military coup

People in the Indian state of Mizoram are welcoming migrants who have fled the military coup in Myanmar. The government, however, is ordering their deportation. Hundreds of people have crossed the border, including police officers and soldiers who say they fled because they were ordered to open fire on pro-democracy protesters.
