The US State Department says there’s no way to safely evacuate hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from Rafah as the Israeli military prepares a ground invasion. “We don’t want to see Palestinians evacuated from Rafah unless it is to return to their homes. Thousands of Israeli antigovernment protesters have gathered in Tel Aviv, among other parts of the country, to call on the government to reach a deal to free dozens of captives held by the Hamas group in Gaza and to hold early elections. US President’s call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza during a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. An Israeli air strike has hit the consular section of the Iranian embassy in the capital Damascus. At least five people have been killed. Among the dead is a senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Several of the embassy’s diplomats have also reportedly been killed in the attack.
