Private funeral held for Wagner chief Prigozhin in St Petersburg

Wagner Group chief Yevgeny Prigozhin is laid to rest at a private funeral near St Petersburg, Russia, a week after he died in a plane crash, according to his press service. His press service said Prigozhin was buried in a private ceremony outside his home city of St Petersburg. The Kremlin said President Vladimir Putin would not attend the funeral of his former ally. Services were also held for other leaders of the mercenary group who the Kremlin says were killed a plane crash last Wednesday. The Kremlin appears to be taking over the Wagner Group’s activities. The Wagner Group does more than just mercenary work, with revenue coming from gold mines and logging to a company that makes beer and vodka, as well as horse breeding and more. A spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin says any report that Kremlin ordered the killing of Wagner group’s chief is an absolute lie. Prigozhin was registered as being on a plane that crashed north of Moscow on Wednesday. Private plane crashes in Russia with Wagner chief ‘on board’

A private plane has crashed in Moscow’s Tver region, killing all 10 people on board. Russia news agency TASS reports that Wagner mercenary group chief Yevgeny Prigozhin was among those on board. “A private Embraer Legacy aircraft travelling from Moscow to Saint Petersburg crashed near the village of Kuzhenkino in the Tver Region. There were 10 people on board, including 3 crew members. According to preliminary information, all those on board died,” the ministry for emergency situation said on Telegram.
