Chad military says it killed 300 rebels after attempted incursion

Chad’s army says it has repelled an attack by a rebel group in its northern region. It comes a week after presidential elections were held in which President Idriss Deby is poised to win a sixth term. Opposition leaders in the capital have called for a ceasefire and dialogue to resolve the situation.
