Beijing district in ‘wartime mode’ amid fresh coronavirus cases

A district in the Chinese capital Beijing is on high alert after dozens of people there tested positive for the coronavirus – the first after two months of no infections in the city. A wholesale market and 11 neighbourhoods in its vicinity have been placed under lockdown. Throat swabs taken from 45 people at the market came out positive for COVID-19. District officials say they are in ‘wartime’ footing.
