Four bodies recovered from rubble of collapsed buildings in France

French rescue workers have found four bodies in the rubble of buildings in the southern city of Marseille that collapsed in an explosion, the mayor says. Judicial authorities will identify the victims, firefighters said in a statement on Monday, which also noted “particular difficulties” in searching for missing residents. Authorities previously said that several people were believed missing after Sunday’s explosion, which destroyed two residential buildings and caused a third to partially collapse. Riots shake France’s Corsica over assault on jailed nationalist

Violent clashes have broken out between protesters and police on France’s Mediterranean island of Corsica over the assault in prison on a nationalist figure. Yvan Colonna, who is serving a life sentence for the assassination in 1998 of Corsica’s top regional official Claude Erignac, is currently in a coma after being beaten on March 2 in jail by a fellow detainee serving time for “terror” offences.
