Nine countries have recalled their ambassadors from Israel due to war on Gaza

Since Israel began its bombardment of Gaza, 9 countries have withdrawn their ambassadors or severed ties. They’ve called for an immediate ceasefire and for humanitarian aid to enter the strip unhindered. NATO member Turkey is among those that pulled their ambassador out. So did Israel’s neighbour, Jordan, that said Israel is committing “war crimes”. The latest to join the list are South Africa and Chad. Bolivia was the first to sever ties entirely with Israel – saying its decision was a “condemnation of the aggressive and disproportionate Israeli military offensive taking place in the Gaza Strip”. Jordan Foreign Ministry announces it has immediately recalled its ambassador to Israel

We’ve just received a statement by Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs saying it had summoned the country’s ambassador to Israel immediately over the war in Gaza. It added that Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi had directed the ministry to inform the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs not to return its ambassador, who had previously left the kingdom. The return of the ambassadors to their positions was conditioned on Israel halting its war on Gaza, the statement said. Gaza war: South Africans hold pro-Palestinian protests

Pandora Papers expose secret assets of world leaders

A huge leak of financial documents has exposed what is claimed to be the secret assets and dealings of some of the world’s richest people. The collection of nearly 12 million files from 14 global financial services – known as the Pandora Papers – was published by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists. Jordan gov’t accuses ex-crown prince of ‘malicious plot’

Jordan’s former crown prince, Prince Hamzah, had been liaising with foreign parties over a plot to destabilise the country, the Jordanian deputy prime minister has said. Jordan prince ‘under house arrest’ amid security crackdown

The former crown prince of Jordan says he is under house arrest in Amman. The military has denied detaining Prince Hamzah bin Hussein, but says a former minister, a member of the royal family and others have been detained as part of a continuing investigation. Jordan health minister resigns after oxygen outage kills patients

0 A medical emergency’s been declared in Jordan after at least seven people being treated for coronavirus died in hospital when their oxygen supply ran out. The health minister has resigned, as the government tries to calm down furious families. Jordanian Prime Minister Bisher al-Khasawneh ordered an investigation, while King Abdullah II arrived at the hospital to help calm angry families who had gathered outside. Denouncing the incident, the king also ordered the hospital’s director suspended.
