How US forces avoided casualties in Iran attacks on Iraqi bases

Iraqi and US-led coalition troops have been targeted by rockets and missiles in at least six attacks since the assassination of Qassem Soleimani. The biggest attack came from Iran when ballistic missiles hit bases being used by the coalition forces. Al Jazeera was given rare access to the strategically important Ain al-Assad base. Protesters leave US embassy compound in Baghdad

Yemen’s Houthi rebels release Saudi attack video

Yemen’s Houthi rebels on Sunday broadcast footage they said was of a major attack into Saudi Arabia that killed or wounded 500 soldiers with thousands of others surrendering. Yahya Saree, a Houthi military spokesman, described an ambush on the Saudi forces that then developed into an “all-out” cross-border offensive that trapped the troops inside Saudi Arabia. “More than 200 were killed in dozens of [missile and drone] strikes while trying to escape or surrender,” Saree said. The fighting took place in the southern region of Najran with video images aired showing armoured vehicles hit by blasts and surrendering soldiers. Iran says tanker crew safe, warns UK against rising tensions

Iran has warned the United Kingdom against escalating tensions between the two countries in the wake of its seizure of a British-flagged oil tanker – an act the UK government has called “hostile”. Britain has rejected Tehran’s explanation that it seized the Stena Impero on Friday because it had been involved in an accident, and told its ships to avoid the Strait of Hormuz, a major oil passageway. First shipment of Russian S-400 systems delivered to Turkey

Russian cargo planes have begun delivering a controversial missile system in Turkey. The first shipment of the S-400 air defence system has been flown into a military airfield in the Turkish capital, Ankara. The launch vehicles can each carry four long-range missiles. The United States had warned it would cancel an F-35 fighter jet deal if Turkey took delivery of the missiles.
