Thirty years before the most recent conflict, Nagorno-Karabakh was mired in another war. It left a deadly legacy. Azerbaijan estimates 14,000 square kilometres (5,405 square miles) in and around the region are contaminated with mines and unexploded munitions. Anger and shock in Armenia over Nagorno-Karabakh ceasefire deal

A Russian-sponsored a deal to end weeks of fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh sparked outrage in Armenia, with angry protesters gathering in front of government buildings in Yerevan.
