A month after Kabul’s fall, Taliban stares at humanitarian crisis

It has been one month since the Taliban captured Kabul and seized control of Afghanistan. But with foreign funds drying up, Afghanistan and its new government are facing a cash crisis. With the cash shortage has come an increase in the prices of everyday items, and employment is in short supply, leaving many Afghans struggling to make ends meet. Afghan refugee group arrives in Mexico after fleeing Taliban rule

Mexico has accepted yet another group of refugees from Afghanistan which include 124 journalists and their families. They landed in Mexico City’s international airport on Wednesday morning where Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard welcomed them in person. Their arrival follows the successful evacuation of an Afghan girls’ robotics team to the country on Tuesday. Mexico has taken in migrants and refugees from Central America but some experts have voiced concern about its ability to give them proper care.
