Gambian police have fired tear gas to disperse supporters of a losing presidential candidate, who is refusing to concede defeat. The Electoral Commission declared incumbent Adama Barrow the winner, with 53 per cent of the vote. Early results are expected on Sunday after Gambians voted in an election seen as a test for its transition to democracy.
