Syria’s Assad visits UAE in first trip to Arab state since 2011

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has met Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in Dubai, the Syrian presidency said in a statement, in his first visit to an Arab state since the Syrian war began in 2011. Qatar Airways seeks $5bn compensation from blockading quartet

Qatar Airways has launched international arbitration seeking at least $5bn from four Arab countries as compensation for blocking it from their airspace and removing it from their markets. Qatar says talks to end GCC crisis were suspended in January

Qatar’s foreign minister said recent efforts to end the blockade against the country have not suceeded.
