Marwan Bishara: What are the Israelis thinking?

Al Jazeera’s senior political analyst Marwan Bishara highlights the complex history of Israel’s past land invasions in Lebanon, emphasizing the disastrous outcomes for both countries. He points out that the 1982 invasion led to massacres and an 18-year occupation of southern Lebanon, while the 2006 invasion resulted in significant military losses for Israel. Bishara questions the strategic rationale behind a potential new invasion, suggesting it could be part of a broader psychological warfare tactic aimed at pressuring Hezbollah, especially after President Biden’s comments about the possibility of an “all-out war” against Lebanon.
