5:30 ding ding ding … arm success = x86/x64 failure.

more like intel failure, arm doesn’t come close to AMD top end chips

The value of ARM was being a neutral embedded technology product. NVidia takes that crucial element out. It makes very little sense to me other than forcing ARM’s customer base to work with a competitor.

The SoftBank ARM acquisition made no sense either. Makes me doubt the wisdom of this ARK investment banker.

@Greg Helton UK gov always has the say because ARM is from UK and they sold it to soft bank so ARM could grow from their investment and obviously masayoshi wanted to make money too. US is the one that doesn’t get a say as per regulatory rules that state the ARM comes under UK government but US will have a say because US can say they have many people using ARM ip like China. China will be worried that US doesn’t include this inside their ongoing trade war. ARM not getting to do business with china puts a big dent in their economy but Nvidia is trying to convince everyone here that US can’t do that as it comes under UK rules but then we have brexit coming up where in US will surely try to put some of it’s political pressure if they want to use the ARM card. Also Nvidia really wouldn’t want to make their investment worthless by making people pay more because that just means more space for x86 to get into market (aka intel) with performance per dollar getting closer.

Karan Joshi like I said SoftBank is selling ARM. I generally sell when I’m pretty sure my investment won’t grow. Are you any different?

    • Karan Joshi Reply

@Greg Helton I am not denying that part. It’s true softbank tried but couldn’t make arm a big data center player. Nvidia can do that so I guess he took his 9billion$ profits and took a vacation.

    • Greg Helton Reply

Karan Joshi ARM’s microprocessors are used in billions of portable devices every year. RISC CPUs are ideal for portable applications and that is where they are needed.

If NVidia bought ARM for the sole purpose of getting it to be used in data centers it makes the deal even more nonsensical. They should have just developed a CPU for a couple billion Dollars, a CPU designed specifically for data centers.

The fools who sold off this morning making the stock drop to 479 ish. Well I appreciate your sales. Now I own 300 shares which will increase to 700 or 800 by early 2021. Foolishness to get frightened because of the FED and J. Powell. Gaming in this covid era is rising. And Nvidia is a leader! and Now this ARMS deals. They are gonna be huge .

Thanks for everyone who sold off NVIDIA. I am content to buy it all for
under $500 a share considering it will be up to $800 within 12 months.
It is major leader now with ARM. Also just the chip market and gaming
is so popular. Growing more with longer indoors due to no vaccine from
pandemic. People need to not panic when J. Powell of the Federal
Reserve makes announcements selling off all their stocks, but oh well.
