@Hong Kong Wandering TV As someone who has visited both cities, I don’t quite agree. Macaus is more historical and is more cultural in places, but when it comes to the casinos, nah, Las Vegas has more ambiance. And besides, most of the better and beautiful casinos in Macau are the US based ones. I stayed at the Four Seasons in Macau and it was indeed sweet.
Vegas has a much better nightlife. Macau nightlife is wack.

I haven’t been to Vegas so I can’t compare but Macau is awesome. You get the luxury of casino hotels across the street from an old Portuguese village (Taipa). It’s not diverse though, all Asians, you might feel strange because they stare and call you ‘meigworen’ which means foreigner or white devil or something. Also the city portion outside of the strip is rundown and dirty compared to Hong Kong

Well, people in Hong Kong, Macau and Guangdong (a Cantonese-speaking province in China) like to use that local slang to describe Caucasians / White people, but they don’t mean to be offensive (like the N word) ! Personally I hate ppl describing Macau as “the Oriental Vegas”. Sure it’s known for casinos but it’s way more than that. It’s the combination of the Portuguese past, Cantonese heritage, old HK urban resemblance, as well as the Vegas glamour. It’s my personal favorite amongst all Chinese cities (both Mainland and SARs) and I never gambled once in my life.

Macau as Dubai are just fake copies of the real thing. Who wants a fake over priced experience. At least in Japan the quality is good of what they want to improve upon.
Macau has lots of history and the city has done a really good job in preserving its heritage sites and all the colonial buildings. It is definitely a very charming city! If you are a foodie, Macau is definitely the place for you! Hope you can visit Macau, see if and feel it for yourself!

I was living in Macau for 4 years when I was studying in “University Macao”. The city is very small, and since American came Macau to built as Casinos there, Macau has been deeply changed, and looks like a luxury city. But however, the working class and middle class peoples there don’t enjoy with these luxury things. And the city is for Chinese Greedy Corrupts, Noble Capitalists, Fraud Bribers, Steal Smugglers, Fake Cheaters, False Tax-evasion, and Bloody Exploiters build.
Small but charming, especially its colonial charm and the way they preserve all the heritage sites and buildings (unlike Hong Kong)! And the local people are very kind and friendly!
Peoples in Macau and Hongkong are getting more rich. Why?? because the houses there, are growing too fast, and same with China’s bigger cities such as Shanghai and Beijing. My Chinese friend’s parents bought a apartment for around $ 33,000.00 US dollars at Shanghai in 1996. But now it’s cost for $ 2.400,000.00 US dollars. So her family has got rich !!!!!!!!!!!!!.
