An one else feel the insurance companies will fight autonomous cars tooth & nail as if there are no accidents what do you need car insurance for???
1:27 wth lol
Yahoo is such a shit name
I hope regulators don’t base any of that subjective fear into roadblocks for autonomous vehicles😓
That is cool! He said end of next year.
Sleep in my car and have it drive alright cool!
Musk definitely hit that.
It’s a no brainer that autonomous is safer than humans as people are idiots behind the wheel
One thing that we will have to take into consideration over the next decade or two is all the people that will have to find different means of employment due to technological advancement. I don’t advocate for luddite riots or anything like that, but large portions of the workforce will find their jobs in jeopardy. Truck/taxi drivers, cashiers, food prep, clerical staff, call center workers, radiologists and even corporate lawyers will find themselves under pressure from advancing AI and robotic tech very shortly.
I really like this womans nose. It’s so pointy! And her hair is so straight! It really looks like she eats kale for lunch every day and gets enough sleep! You can tell she comes from excellent breeding!
When cars start communicating directly with EACH OTHER, that’s when not only accidents will be drastically reduced, but traffic jams will start disappearing since cars will be able to weave in between each other even through intersections, making traffic lights unnecessary. Autonomous cars also don’t slow down to look at accidents on the side of the road…
No one is talking about the huge jump in productivity this will make, everyone (just) sees the obvious reduction in insurance company margin and reduction of human life lost (i guess).
You will now be able to be on your phone all the time and text whenever you want, watch a video or read a book while getting to WHEREVER. Still wondering what you do in a snow storm or a hurricane, talk your car into emergency mode, and hope for the best?
what a hottie, not elon.
It sais “A … self driving tesla” sounds like a prototype and will likely not be able to handle all traffic situations just controlled routes through the US and certainly won’t be certified for public use in a end consumer market by 2020
I loved his idea of using the BFR for intercontinental travel. I’m tired of 14 hours flights from America to China several times annually. It take me 40 minutes to get from my home to my office; I’d be thrilled to fly to China or back in the same time frame.
Please, Elon, bring it back!
Next Year??? GTFOH!!!
How long till like a seatbelt I’m forced to buy a $40,000 car or get ticketed.
I would love to see car insurance companies follow the same path as typewriter companies. Also, traffic cops can go F themselves as well as the DMV.
ooo please, humans are more than capable of driving safely only if they can keep their eyes off their phones, if the government would be more strict on this issue we wouldn’t have so many accidents, for example license suspension, or hefty fines, maybe only then it would teach those reckless drives a lesson, but then again this most likely wont happen cause the more people lose their license the more the economy gets affected
Bull crap, let’s figure out to fire millions of people from there job. If one crash happens they should not be able to use this technology & if it does happen business owners like Tesla should go to jail like a person who kills someone.
Company Dissolved within 5 yrs.
Blowin through Cash they do not have……Balance Sheet looks worse than the United States of America Corporation.
This would be good if it wasn’t for the American accents. God they grate on the ears. Great to see these people are actually so optimistic about Elon too though. Thumbs up
If this technology was in every car then it would be safer. Why can’t this tech go into existing cars. Most people can’t afford a new car. More data if it’s in all cars 🙂
Even the damn AI is nowhere near to be good enough. Electric cars pollute as much as any car except maybe hybrids…
hi
Should be bang on like his prediction of model 3 full production 😂
Elon needs to stop making exegerrated claims.
She is hot.
love elon, hate yahoo. terrible clip.
That’s scary! Don’t do that!
These high executive won’t tell you the detail! I believe company like Waymo can achieve fully autonomous at well developed rout/middle level traffic/nice day maybe next year. But I don’t believe any companies can deliver a AV in 5 years to drive in any condition. Also, for average American, you won’t be able to afford if such vehicle come out in 5 years.
We already have driverless cars, they’re called texting teens.
What are they talking about? There are fully autonomous cars in this very moment on the roads – Waymo.
no, they are not autonomous
Based on his “We should be making an announcement in the new few months” comment when it came to NeuralLink, I think you can expect fully-automated cars in about 10 years.
Tesla model 2! Geo metro sized EV car that sells for $15K! THAT is how you get millennials to buy new cars…
I think that when all cars are fully autonomous AND able to share their locations with with each other driving will be as safe as flying if not much safer.
Will it be called “driving” in the future? Or just “riding?”
walking
Tasha is awesome
Tasha is a bull. OK, I guess I can wrap my head around that.
IAC I don’t understand at all how fatality rates in airliners tell us anything about what to expect with AV cars.
Driving is a useless skill unless you’re in motorsports.
@Steven Vachon They don’t drive themselves though. If they drove themselves, I wouldn’t get in.
@jan simonides Tesla cars do currently drive themselves, and they’re getting more independent. If they currently cannot park themselves without you in the car, they “soon” will.
@Steven Vachon ok you are wrong.
@jan simonides ok you’re a troll.
@Steven Vachon You are a nincompoop!
Clickbait title.
i want female robot companions
Elon Musk lies to his workers, no surprise he lies to shareholders. Good on the SEC for doing their due diligence, now if they had more teeth. You can’t tell people you’re going to make the company private, when you can’t, you can’t tell employees they will get overtime when there’s no money, and you can’t tell the SEC you will have Tesla approve all Tweets when you have a big mouth. There’s only so many people that have money to buy a new car, and with small tax credits, the Consumer Report opinion, and it still hasn’t delivered on the $35,000 car. 400,000 orders and they have delivered one quarter of that amount. 1/4 in how many years? C’mon. Imagine if Space X only went 1/4 to Mars. The solar panels worked 1/4 out of the year. The wall charger could only charge 1/4 of power. The Boring tunnels only dug 1/4 of the path. It’s kinda silly this is somehow tolerated by Wall St.
Autonomous driving is not as simple as auto-pilot for planes with their infinite space in the skies. Take for example the lane closures that happen when there’s an accident, or Caltrans has taken 4 lanes out for repairs and you have to avoid the orange cones and go into the one lane off the freeway and take a detour on streets to go back on the freeway. These are things that happen all the time and it’s unrealistic for the car to know how to do all this, if anything it just bottlenecks the roads even more. If society just mentally checks out of their duty to drive, then society should start taking keys away from people who are too lazy to drive anyways. This will most likely send the wrong message that people could just get drunk behind the wheel and then the car is going to do everything except when there’s a detour. Government will say to those that just don’t want to drive to stay home. Increase the tax on autonomous cars. Let people more responsible drive on the roads. Do we tell people just have sex and then let the children raise themselves? Parenting is too hard so let the TV teach them? Lazy people shouldn’t be behind the wheel, it’s dangerous. Someone will die from this autonomous function. Recently a Tesla driver was asleep while moving down the freeway and the cops chased the car for miles while it was on auto mode. This is a good time to start taking driver’s license away from people and keep the roads clear for everybody else. Just because you have the money to buy a new Tesla doesn’t give you the right to be a terrorist on the road and sleep at the wheel.
Pretty soon, when people just give their responsibility to computers, they become stupid. Do we want a generation too stupid to know how to operate a car? It’s like people don’t even know how to spell without auto-correct or they don’t know a phone number of a person because they just relied on the phone to store it. Instead of autonomous vehicles, why don’t we have those lazy people get on a bicycle? These sound like the fat people on Wall-E. There’s going to be a computer formula that decides if the person in the car is more worth saving that the other people on the fucking road. How lame is that? Do we put the Tesla’s in jail? The owner was sleeping, they can’t testify in court. Some engineer at Tesla forgot a certain code and updated all the Tesla’s so now what happens if the autonomous car just ignores human life outside the car? What if the program gets hacked? Or the government sends cars that owe tax money to drive the car to jail? Owe child support? Parking fees? The car won’t start until you pay. The car is supposed to give you freedom and the people are told to be lazy and want technology to take their freedom away. What a bunch of pussies Tesla drivers are.
There was this pipedream of Tesla during the orientation and they said that they were working on self autonomous vehicles that will do the ride share platforms like Uber and Lyft while the owner was at home sleeping, you were pimping out your car making money while not being inside the car and not at work. This will then make Uber drivers obsolete. The legal ramifications on who’s at fault is truly complicated, the owner was miles away and asleep at home, the Tesla car was in an incident that involved damages and lost of life perhaps. The police track down the owner and now the owner has no car to go to the crash site for questioning, the victim’s family will get a lawyer and will want payment. Tesla is going to get blamed for everything instead of the owner. The car was under Tesla’s control via full autonomous program. And if the EV is working all night, when does it have enough time to charge for the owner to take it to work? What a stupid idea. What if people call a autonomous Tesla through Uber and use the car to be in a bank robbery, prostitution, drug use, murder, it’s just legally exhausting for the company and the car owner to have to pay for clean up. It seems like an overly complicated version of what was discovered decades ago with the taxis and bus.
Do people really KNOW that auto driving cars are safer than people? I believe it is, but everyone I’ve ever talked to about it thinks it’s super not safe. I don’t even think people consider what would happen if they got in a crash, they just think a machine will crash because they aren’t human.
you are a nitwit!
Can we get the link to the actual interview.
i keep hearing this exact claim “elon gives timeline for fully autonomous cars” and i really do want him to succeed, but damn if its not frustrating for him to Walk it Back later saying “people misinterpreted my statements” when he CLEARLY said what he meant.
i suspect it will continue to happen.
Great content, cool cars

Regulations are important on a vehicle that is traveling on the surface of the earth flat or not those satellite’s gotta work real good tracking those electric cars
Don’t believe a word he says. Rather buy gold.
When cars drive themselves, we should allow drinking at age 18.
I bet he DM’d her! 😍
A 4000 price target for the stock? What the shit? Even if you’re a Tesla bull, look at the market cap vs established mass market car companies revenues, and then calculate out the market cap it would need to hit 4000…
It depends on the 5G roll out and whether or not we keep the 5G. Every time I’ve looked in the past, I have always heard another 7 years. Probably 7 more years until I can afford one.
Don’t forget how this will effect the income that local governments get from traffic tickets. We will see a huge round of layoffs of county and state workers (especially cops ha haaaaa!)
nothing we can do about it, the day its “released” and telsa is willing to financially guarantee it insurance wise then sure sign me up as I’ll just cancel my insurance on the car and start saving, or better yet sell my car and have a FSD vehicle show up the few times I need it for dirt cheap. Ride sharing a roadster anyone?
what happens to most cars anyway mileage wise?
they get old? get to 180k miles and aren’t worth fixing due to depreciation? how much would it actually cost to fix a model 3 if it was ran day and night as a taxi and racked up 100k miles a year somehow over 2 years? You could have a 2/3 year old car at 200k miles and refurbish the interior and paint and it would look new as its made out of aluminum and has a 1 piece motor. or wrap it and change wrap every 2 years.
the cost per mile on FSD cars is going to plummet. combine that with nightly power rates at .05$/kwh or lower and it would make owning any normal car a hassle and expensive.
think about how much of your houses value is wasted on the garage to store them, how much of the space is wasted on the driveway.
what is she i mean really what is she
30 years from now our children will be afraid to turn autopilot off.
no lol
Judging on Elon’s history, he’s probably wrong… again.
Building cars the working man can’t afford…keep up the good work Elon!!
This man lies a lot. And I mean A LOT.
Kinda thought we’d be able to fly around like the Jetson’s by now. This doesn’t excite me at all. Id rather see cars with brakes and gas pedal on the steering wheel so my legs can relax.
“Everybody knows self driving cars are safer”. 3:23 Ohhh really? Because you say so? #shitmillennialssay
They are definitely safer by default
@Brian Diehl no, they are not. You are a moron!
Grateful I was able to live in the era when I was free to drive like a selfish ass and kill myself behind the wheel whenever I wanted.
Old town roads is full of weird comments…

Well if you drive for a living, you are unemployed in 2020.
Just got rear-ended cuz the lady behind me didn’t pay attention. I was using Tesla semi-pilot mode.
The biggest issue as always is peoples lack of reason. I have spoken with people who when pressed, would much prefer to drive their kids to school than an autonomous vehicle (with the parent in it too), even if it is proven 10 times safer. They tend to say that they want control if something goes wrong, they can’t imagine sitting there and not being able to do something in a crash, what they don’t realize or refuse to acknowledge, is that it is not always THEIR driving that might be the issue that day, but perhaps a tired/drunk/distracted/new/bad driver coming the other way who suddenly hits them head on.
We live in a world where airplanes are the safest mode of transport, and yet there are millions of people still afraid to fly… crashes happen, they are out of your control, anything that is proven to reduce your chances of a fatal accident should be fully encouraged.
You are an idiot!
I’m saying 2021-2022 at this point
My only question for Elon Musk is, will a legally blind person be able to drive this car safely?
Good luck having fully autonomous cars in Canada when the roads are covered with over 20 cm of snow and everything looks white. I think were closer to traveling on flying droids that self driving cars.
1:27 she does the Daenerys Targaryen smile meme
I won’t be putting my life in the hands of any self-automated missile.
I’m sure Elon hooked up with her after podcast
I’m sad there only now! coming out why not 18Years ago ATLEAST! why did we have to grow up learning about moron drivers the fact that a lot of us had to struggle with those facts & proves how primative our childhoods were💔😭I learnt to drive for NOTHING😡
10000 time better then cncbc
how many accidents ,so far?
Well, it’s almost next year…
No one is going to trust their one and only life to an autonomous vehicle that is being controlled by a computer that is several orders of magnitude less intelligent than a cockroach.
And Elon Musk is a burnout pothead drug addict recipient of public welfare…look it up.
Cops are gonna get laid off 🤣🤣🤣
this is so good, this channel deserves at least 10x the subs
Why do I feel like Elon slid into her DMs with other ideas on mind 😛
Two words why it will never come to fulfillment…
BLACK ICE
Thats another reason it will exist, ur acting like humans can see black ice, the computer can react 10× faster to black ice then a human, and it will drive more carefully if theres risk for black ice
@M1ATA56 Lol! Like a a computer sensor can sense black ice! Yes my 2016 car tells me of possible icy conditions. The most up-to-date technology will not know the local slick spots until it has received statistics of where the autotomanous accidents are occuring over time. By then the masses (for whom are 70% against this) will be jaded by all the accidents that are going to happen. G, please go out and be the guinea pig for the first 20 years and prove me wrong. Gluck!
PS. Autotomanous vehicles are only desired by urbanites. Suburban and rural will careless.
Tashas hot af
From this and other interviews, Tasha seems very sharp and well-informed.
2020’s here now, so, where is it?
Elon Musk has a history of failed predictions
Stupid, pointless technology. Benefits nobody, massive waste of money and resources.
He said WHEN it will be, but not if it’s going to be FULLY allowed.
kodi lee
I hope that Tesla will have level 5 fully autonomous cars by the end of this year. I would like to have a level 5 fully autonomous Tesla Model X, so that I can sleep, text and talk on my phone, be at my destination and so that my friends and I can go to a bar and drink a couple alcoholic beverages and get drunk together and not have to worry about drunk driving, since the self driving car will be the designated driver and drive us home home safely.
Really curious on how that will impact jobs in those industries. Truck drivers for instance. Will they lose there jobs or just have there pay cut. Also he is planning on rolling out the new semi.
2:15 cops chanting DEFUND AUTONOMY ………. they wont make bank anymore on DUI’s
Virginia Tech Transportation Institute has one of the largest driving recorded data.
Well that didn’t pan out.
Next year means end of 2020?
Im here from the future..a year from this. Not there yet.
What a shitty timeline.
Level 4 autonomous driving not even in 2021 so jokes on you musk
I Dont want a self driving car though 🙄
