I get this is a serious risk, but tell that to my friend who committed suicide because he couldn’t get pain management anymore. There is a place for this stuff like it or not.
As well as all the veterans who started abusing heroin when the VA started cutting everyone off their prescriptions.
Perhaps plant medicines like Cannabinoids could have helped him. Neuropathic pain/neurological pain is one condition that Cannabinoids are quite helpful in modulating.
Unfortunately being pain free is very addictive. Not a user myself but I sympathize with those that need this kind of drug for pain management. Pain is real.

Used to be pain sufferers and addicts had access to safe prescriptions. Now, overdoses are skyrocketing. We aren’t better off. He needed it.” The suicide occurred one year after the VA announced the “Opioid Safety Initiative” to stop pain medicines for US veterans, like Kevin Keller. The VA would not comment.
His right arm rendered useless by a crippling stroke, Keller used an unsteady left hand to scrawl a brief letter to his best friend.
“MARTY,” it read. “SORRY I BROKE INTO YOUR HOUSE AND TOOK YOUR GUN TO END THE PAIN! FU VA!!! CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE”

Mercedes McGuire of Indiana ended her life August 4th, 2017 after struggling with agony originally suppressed with opioid pain medicine but reappearing after her pain medicine was cut back in a fashion after the CDC regulations. She was in such discomfort she went to the ER because she could not stand the intractable pain by “learning to live with it” as suggested by CDC consultants. The ER gave her a small prescription. She went to the pharmacy where they refused to fill it “because she had a pain contract.” She went home and killed herself. She was a young mother with a 4 year old son, Bentley.

The majority of the Opioid crisis is on the street level. this is illegal use. Now when you need medicine like cough syrup, you are getting denied. You can cough for days until you traumatize you throat and lungs. You can cough until you cough up blood, You can go to the ER with the paramedics. You can cough until you have permanent damage. All the while Dr.’s including the ER Dr.’s will refuse to give you the only medicine that will help. Turn a 2 week flu into a 16 week devastation. Why? Because the providers and pharmacy don’t want the paper work and don’t want any red flags that might cause government officials to bother them. The attitude is that they would rather let you die than go through any bureaucratic red tape. Even the ER Dr.’s just let you cough and sufficate. They have the power to help you breath and stop coughing, to keep you from having permanent damage for the rest or your life, but they turn away , because they don’t want to be bothered by the government. Best medicine for severe chronic pain. It’s a sad day for the handicapped people who badly need this sort of medication.
I highly agree that it is amazing medicine for chronic pain. However, if you are truly suffering I recommened marijuana because it mimics similar effects and can provide less side effects, then ones you get from narcotics. You don’t even have smoke it. There are edibles and topicals.
@Moonlocket cannabis helps fir mild pain, but not necessarily severe pain. I agree if you have severe pain you should try everything before using opioids. I have a traumatic spinal cord injury. My spinal cord was severed/compressed by more than 80%, but thank the Creator I’m still able to walk. Its unfortunate but there are millions of people who actually need opioid treatment for their suffering. 🙏🏼

I never use drugs,play sport, healthy lifestyle! Only few drinks on some party! But when I spent this 12 oxycodone I ask Dr for more! He say NO sorry,only I can prescribe Tylenol or Ibuprofen! So probably my Dr save me not to become addicted!

Let’s not blame the drug companies. As a nurse, I see the doctors that give these meds out like candy to be at fault. And when the doctors are told to back off. They expect their patients to go off those drugs cold turkey. I have had to help many people in these situations. Doctors are at fault. They don’t care.
