Surfers save lives every day. Because of their experience with the ocean and the proximity of their recreation, it is often up to surfers to rescue people caught in rip tides etc. I’ve saved five people in my 16 years surfing and only one of them was another surfer.

Unfortunately I witness when they pulled a 40 year old out of similar not so deep water – her boyfriend was with her. They try to resuscitate- she drowned past away…the water was rough that day just like in the video…a few people had to be saved before the lifeguards/police shut down all swimming.
