CEO Dennis Muilenburg has been sacked because a change of leadership was necessary to restore public confidence, says Boeing.
The company suspended production of the 737 Max aeroplane less than a week ago and has lost more than $8bn after the fatal crashes of Ethiopian Airlines and Lion Air.
Boeing is facing lawsuits over the accidents and European regulators have refused to give the green light to the jet so it can fly.

#Boeing #737MAX #DennisMuilenburg
They should have fired him after the first crash.
This scape goat 🐐 is involved in hiring developers who got paid 9$/hour. One reason crappy software causes the accidents
I just see the face of him .I could guess he can run Boeing company great longer.i just study high school in Vietnam country. But if I’m having the power chair as his .I would like to let 737 max delivering stuffs a long time but must be weight even amount passengers people . Before doing this I would like talking the training schedule for who will drive this kind planes as well as. After this planes ‘s everything will be fine .I will sell and train for other people in countries in the world as well too. You all know if just lost a little mins of troubleshooting of planes take off .all of people just die exactly because the planes not like the cars .Exactly, he affected to make U.S great again .Selling the planes. American people have a plenty of money from them.
This is long overdue. I do believe however this CEO like all others was acting on behalf of Boeing. They just let him go because they need a fall guy. No respect for human life just business!!!
Face of an idiot. Stop doing that stupid mouth
Just don’t fly Boeing. Its trash
Boeing is a reckless and unsafe manufacturer. Check out aljazeera’s documentary on the 787
Just a corporate PR stunt. Boeing is a company in the latest big money business of selling bribes
still not enough. compensation for families that lost their loved ones in the 2 accidents
also bring this company to court. sue them. i want to them go bankrupt
I think with all the sophisticated technology like black box its very easy to figure out what exactly happened. Its just that bigger corporation hardly reveal what is going on inside their ops that what dents the image.
Just fix the issues before loosing market share
Just in case you were worried. Muilenburg is doing fine. Because we all know the companies nowadays only save money on its workers who have a real and productive job, the ones who already get paid the worse, and when it comes to safety. Though when it comes to compensating incapable CEOs the money will be “free flow”.
Anyone who thinks such a facile move will restore confidence is delusional. Seems there are always corporate types who think PR is the answer to everything.
Wait wait wait …. he shouldn’t be let go … he should go to prison.. if not executed!
Yeah execute them so no more mistakes . Make an example of them !
It’s a good news for Boeing… Now find engineers then put them in Charge and NOT accountant!!!
Former Boeing CEO should’ve been prosecuted as well!
Meh..
Not Enough
The entire management should be hanged, as well as the FAA management.
A bit excessive. Did you skip your meds this morning?
This is an unintentional Airbus ad
R.I.P to everyone who died in those crashes, that CEO got what he deserved
I am not sorry to say that Boeing, IS NOT ALLOWED TO MAKE MISTAKE! We put our lives in your designs and USD8billions, how about the lives of 200+ people and all their families who sufferred the lost.
The Board should also go!
A new CEO does not make the 737 Max a better a plane.
Nothing worse for a plane maker than one of your planes started falling out of sky like a lead balloon due to a defect! Will take Boeing a long time to recover from this catastrophe!
So he was wrong not your plan or your design..fool you
Boeing fired the current ceo with an engineering background, and have him replaced by one that used to be an accountant.
Boeing needs John Chen!
Hypocrites and blood sucking vampires. No trust in these CEOs and also on most politicians.
We made mistakes means we got caught. Criminals who will never go to jail as they should.
I’m still learning about airplanes, pre-order a fleet today
Why was this guy still in a job ?
I like how everyone is suddenly aviation experts.
Ridiculous!!! He should go to Jail and give up his salary for the last 2 years to the families of the people who lost their lives !
They will sue and they will be significantly compensated.
Focus on training pilots to handle situation better instead of saving money ,and put the accused behind bars would be the only justice to families and yes pay them for an independent life as well
I dont think firing CEO will do any good. its not enough!
I work at Boeing Everett for about 5years. Went back to school. Am disappointed that the company had not redesigned the 737 for the new engines instead putting a software fix on it.
Corruption
Corruption
Corruption
The board of Directors was sooo bad as well. They should have fired him at least end of october.
Car defects they will call back… boeing the defectives plane is yours forever…good luck on you…
Trumpet should compensate fully Boeing to scrap the Boeing Max or Market will reject Boeing just like the dodgy British Comet.
Ralph Nadir demanded the entire BOD gone currently there is only one engineer in it? David Calhoun have high praises for Dennis Mulinberger; David is part of the BOD for 10 years he’s part of the problem and not the solution.
A tax payers bailout is eminent, Dennis Mulinberger alone made over $100,000,000.00 alone in the last 5 years
It is a good start, but the entire board of directors must go. Boeing still have a profit first culture, and pushing the quick and dirty software patch to MCAS (May Crash Anytime System) instead of fixing the critical safety flaws with the single AOA sensor. Next, cleanup the FAA and stop the revolving door between FAA and Boeing.
Yeah, they gonna let him go with about 150mil in compensation and another 50 mil in stocks! He ain’t going to lose no sleep over this.
Murder so many people and still go the audacity to say he is still learning. He should be imprison and why is he not?? Now he laugh his way to the bank with all the millions he made from Boeing all these years. Just imagine you are one of those love ones that are dead due to the two crashes. How do you feel that he is probably in some beach resort having a tequila.
That’s why people end up taking the law into their own hands. A cycle of endless problems.
Well at least his options are worth nil
Just let Elon Musk do it better…that should be our answer to everything.
Why took so long to fire him? It’s too late!
Meanwhile China just bought hundreds of French Airbus lol, good luck with your democratic elected president, Americans.
America rocks you twit. Everyone on the planet wants to come here. You are just jealous LOLOLOLOLOLOL.
Fire the board and the entire leadership of Boeing. They are all incompetent and made the culture of Boeing irresponsible and focused too much on profit.
Too many modern MBA types without engineering background.
Yep
I also see now a days MBA/finance people heading business & cutting down R&D budget, improving R&D efficiency bla bla.
When you hire smart talkers instead of hardworking managers, this happens.
Poor fella. Imagine having to get by on £800,000 a year pension and £52,000,000 in shares. Heart goes out to you.
He doesn’t get paid in pounds sterling. Thanks for posting tho.
Now you fired the guy? 9 whole months after the accidents that killed over 300 people? Was that not enough reason? Were all the troubling evidences that came forward all these time about how Boeing is ignoring or shortchanging safety not enough? Is it now because you couldn’t get your way to get that plane back to flying, or because the stock is taking a hit, or because you have to stop the production and that’s hurting your bottom line? Hmmm looks to me it’s not people’s lives that you concerned so much about but those almighty dollars…
Got fired still gets away with murder and negligence and still leaves the company earned millions of “blood” money from the dead.
Only got fired?
What about 300ish passanger life??
Is he gonna leave like that??
The Board; I bet “the board” also approved the cost cutting plans the CEO suggested.
“Fired” ?????
He and whoever discarded engineers warnings should be “jailed”.
Such leader is paid (and quite well) to make decisions. They decided to not listen to their engineers and lead hundrerds to their deaths.
Such decisions, if left unpunished, will be repeated by others.
Somehow, lambda citizens get into more trouble over a single speeding ticket.
Nothing will change until you fire the entire team that oversaw the compromises on safety on the 737 800 Max, and the corrupt officials who looked the other way at the FAA, and the corrupt politicians who put them there.
The US government did not force Boeing to ground the jet..other countries decided to ground the planes and the US government had no choice.
Yup. Its funny how they always credit usa for actions that themselves were not planning to make
Good Girl…USA even claims to be the super power and they’ve never won any World War!
@Kevin Wakli Fitness takes time to me to undeestand. Its true. Usa not win the war, but allied as a team.
the only way to save the company is to ditch 737 max. Hardware design flaws cannot be corrected fixed by a software.
please give Indonesian subtitles🙏
You can buy anything except trust
Apparently it is not uncommon for the CEO of many companies to be responsible for the problems of those companies….they are no Einstein you know.
Im sorry. Nothing’s changed. Even though ceo has been changing hands but my trust towards boeing especially 737 max model remain the same. I would not take any risk to fly with one of them. PERIOD
Pull yourself together man……..you put yourself at risk every time you pile into your Saturn to go out and buy some weed PERIOD.
Richard L. T. Nahhh..this is risk that i know i have to avoid. Even enjoying weed is more safer than take a flight with max.. PERIOD. Cheers
This POS still walks away with a 60 million golden parachute severance package? Take that money and divide it for the families he knowingly destroyed. He’s nothing but a crook. CEO = Crooks Extorting Others
CEO fired with a big fat severance package..
Make a f….ng new plane, greedy bastards.
Hope Boeing goes bankrupt
fired CEO to save CEO for responsibility
We made mistakes from killing people and we have learned from innocent deaths
What would restore confidence is putting the CEO behind bars for the next 30 years or so.
The entire leadership should’ve been fired after the 2nd crash. This is only for optics. I’ve a feeling he got fired now for not getting the max back in the air quick enough not for the mistakes leading to the crash. With a company like this you always want a few bright engineers in the leadership that provide a long term vision and ensure innovation…
They will not regain confidence with that airplane, either way – its design is flawed. I think what Boeing must do is scrap 737 design and brand and make an enormous investment in a completely new airplane.
He is very lucky he only got fired. So many killed. Others had been arrested for less. Where is the justice?
All this started just so they remain competitive with AirBus without spending much. Human life has always been cheap compared to Benjamins.
How much money did he receive to leave?
Just curious why no one is talking about pilot training in other countries, and why the is no worldwide standard, one of the crashes the pilot had less than 200 hours air time.
So how and when shoild a pilot start flying pasengers? After 2000 hours in the simulator? Don’t be daft please. Don’t blame the pilots. It’s all the plane makers fault. ALL.
Zunaid B Agreed, Just saying there needs to be similar training and regulations for pilot worldwide. That is not being discussed or looked at, and needs to be standardized.
More on that, The FAA Gave Boeing all Inspection of their plans because of their impeccable safety record. That why the Head of the FAA was the first to be fired from his position. So don’t be Daft until you look at all the information.
Lots of Boeing’s hater here…Boeing is the best and most ethical company.
WAS my friend. They lost their way. I loved Boeing but it’s just a fact. The leadership lost their way. It needs change. The issues were known way prior to this but it took these two accidents to bring light to the unfortunate path new leadership took.
Did Boeing CEO shared some methods of manufacturing Airbus to China???
indonesian n ethiopians… so no human causalities?
CEO always fired with golden parachute, non of us got million when got fired, so no problems for him.
The US Aviation authority is at fault as well
Fire the board , CEO is just puppet
Why is there no mention of pilate error here?,,,poor piloting must play apart there’s been thousands of perfectly normal flights , there’s more to this
This is ultimately going to be brutal on the local Seattle economy. Some jobs can’t be saved if you want to save lives.
Sorry to say this. I love Boeing, but they lost my trust and confidence in them.
What’s supposed to restore confidence in the brand? The fact that he got a $39M severance? That’s almost 100 grand for each person he killed.
Isn’t GE also has questionable reputation in light of the Madoff whistleblower revelation? Isn’t David Calhoun like the fire where Boeing jumped off from the frying pan of Dennis Muilenburg?
GOOD . fkin greedy Boeiing, you cannot solve a hardware problem by simply tweaking the software . BOEING MUST REDESIGN THE WHOLE AIRCRAFT
Boeing is going.
This Chief Executive Officer deserves termination for his ultra negligence.
That guy need to go jail or hang to death together with other Boeing executives responsible for the killing on innocent passengers!!!
This is what happened when Boeing become greedy – maximum profit with maximum KILL!!!
If you drink and drive and have an accident that kills people you go to jail for life.
Boeing develops a faulty plane knowingly ( thus drinking), crashes the planes and kills hundreds of people and no one goes to jail.
Something is wrong!
Fired? He should have resigned as soon as the second plane hit the ground and prosecuted. Where is the responsibility? Who is in jail?
Honestly, I can’t trust Boeing anymore, I lost my trust in them long time ago. I think it’s high time for Airbus to learn and takeover from them.
What needs to happen is that the FAA should not certify any additional Boeing aircraft until the Board of Directors is dissolved and replaced with a new, uncorrupt board.
Boeing has made huge strides in recent decades to become a proud Equal Opportunity Employer

Poor reporting BOEING Needs to be delicensed and slowly removed from civil aviation… lives are lost we cannot change it but by god if we let them make a superficial change to make us forgive and forget….WE WILL NEVER FORGET
Al Jazeera is the most biased and crappiest Channel
Not only fired should’ve been jailed
