High unemployment in Zimbabwe makes it hard for young people to find work.
Some are becoming farmers to earn a living.
They are leasing land or using farms their parents acquired during the government’s land reforms.
More than 20 years after land was seized from whites, several farms are still not being fully utilised.
Young farmers like Terence Maphosa say that needs to change.

#Zimbabwe
Bout time my fellow countrymen wake up
Whites figured this out 5000 years ago
We should all be planting food, EVERYWHERE!! Let’s help nations that are struggling now to reduce migration issues later. Aid should be in the form of seeds, natural organic farming aid and with donated solar panel manufacturing facilities for example.
Zimbabwe is now looking to compensate whites, to the tune of $3.5 billion. Apparently they need more human capital.
Make of it what you will.
They won’t even get $3.5 mil. bet
@C. Lincoln Well, Zimbabwe has discussed leasing out mining profits to them, so it’s not for lack of interest from Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe needs land reform.
1) Land worth over $1 mil. will be taxed at 5% annually – so that its used for productivity by people that know what they are doing, or they sell it because they can’t afford the 5% annual tax. Land under $1 mil. should be taxed at 1%.
2) Foreigners shouldn’t be allowed to own land, only lease it on 100 year leases.
3) Local’s shouldn’t own land either, it should be owned by a community land trust, and the land trust will be responsible for the taxes. But the leases should be 250 year leases.
4) Banks MUST accept the lease contract as collateral so that people can borrow against the land and raise capital for production. Its not rocket science people.
Thank God you don’t run the country. It’d be Venezuela by the end of the decade.
An annual tax of 5 percent ain’t working.
Land doesn’t make so much in return.
@pax und peace imagine owning $1 million in land and making enough to survive PLUS $50,000 in taxes. Crazy.
Farmers in Zimbabwe 🇿🇼!
It’s better seeing things like this on the news rather than tragedies and other crazy stuff on the News.
This is why watch Al Jazeera
@pax und peace this is why I will no longer watching the news. Everyone is going insane.
WAS THERE A POINT TO SENDING WHITE FARMERS PACKING??? ZIMBABWE WAS NOT ONLY A FARMING SUCCESS STORY 30 YEARS AGO BUT A VITAL TRADING SPOT, INDUSTRIAL AND TOURIST DESTINATION… AS AN INDIAN WITH ZIMBABWEAN ROOTS, I CAN TELL YOU MUGABE WAS A CURSE ON EVERY SINGLE ZIMBABWEAN… WHAT IS WORSE IS ZIMBABWE HAS FALLEN VICTIM TO DICTATORIAL GOVERNANCE NOW AGAIN… UNTIL THE PEOPLE WAKE UP ZIMBABWE’S MISERY WILL CONTINUE FOR ANOTHER 50 YEARS… GOD BLESS MY COUNTRY
Zimbabwe needs irrigation systems for farming in rural areas
Do you remember when Zimbabwe was food basket of Afrika? This was before land was confiscated from white farmers.
We got our land back just like we fought for our indepence
It’s now an empty impoverished mess begging for help … absolutely tragic…
@Foxbat who’s “WE” where do you live ?
So? This is a good thing at list they will learn to shift from subsistence farming to commercial farming. Sometimes good things come from bad things
Good job Terry, you are an inspiration
Subsistence farming is not a long term solution for any one…Farming is an incredibly complex business-Science , Business, hydro technology , Transportation , Technology.
So why tf do you have a european name???????
A name is a name…no matter where it came from…he could be called cabbage for all we care…it changes nothing
Well his 2nd name is his ancestor’s name so you don’t have to worry yourself that much
Good job Terry
asking to seize the land of other is the entrance door of socialism , say it more strong like that nobody will come to invest.
It already happend
Maybe hunting and fishing too ? This isn’t news
Good luck in trying to make Zimbabwe the bread basket again👍🌻
And that’s Africa’s problem right there, the hand out mentality, work and buy your land like everyone else!!!
I’m sorry but I was not Africa’s problem right now
Africa’s problems right now is corrupt government, authoritarian rule lack of democracy lack of security, uneducated workforce and foreign interference mostly from western countries

When you buy a house the money doesn’t come from other depositors. The bank makes a digital entry and proof, the money is born. For that privilege you pay massive interest each month on that data entry. It is extraordinarily profitable to the bank and really a crime against you the borrower in that it is so onerous in its deceit and the wealth taken from you in the form of interest payments.
Good job. Keep pushing
