Heavy gunfire heard near presidential palace in Guinea-Bissau

Heavy gunfire has been heard in the capital of Guinea-Bissau near the seat of the government, according to media reports. Heavily-armed men surrounded the Palace of Government on Tuesday, where President Umaro Sissoco Embalo and Prime Minister Nuno Gomes Nabiam were believed to have gone to attend a cabinet meeting. The presidential palace is located on the edge of the capital close to the airport. UN: 110 civilians killed in Nigeria attack

The United Nations says at least 110 civilians have been killed and many more injured in an attack in Nigeria’s northeast. Funerals have been held for some of the dozens of farm workers killed while working in rice fields. Local officials blame Boko Haram fighters for the violence.
