The fact that they call it an industry says it all. Just as prisons for profit is a shame on our Nation. This is much worse. The talking head here’s body language says it all if you know how to read it. She knows it’s a lie. These kids should be living like kings and queens for the amount of money these companies are being paid per day to care for them.

The people who work at these places make minimum wage and have no training

Both children and adults. Just ask anyone who’s been to a jail, prison,youth offender programs,or mental hospitals regular hospitals even drug reabilation facilities. Most of winch are now all for profit . And the one’s who claim nonprofit are privately owned by churches or other businesses who write off taxes and launder money through claimed losses . I thought this was common knowledge.

Over many years for profit youth and adult confinement facility companies have shown that profit is the primary concern and abuse of confined persons is not. Private jails, penal facilities and youth facilities have a long history of neglect and abuse and investors share the blame.
I got tortured by staff at a treatment center in my state as a teen. Even over a decade later the trauma sticks around

This is one of those things that would be best handled by government. At a minimum, on site government monitoring should work, with the people doing the monitoring rotating regularly, to avoid corrupt practices.

As a foster parent I’m appalled they get paid so much, $275-$800 per day per child! And have children sleeping on cement slabs! For that alone every employee should be locked up.
A very unsightly story but one which needed to be brought to the light of day with a need for a team of clean-up lawyers. Not mentioned were questions as to whether medications like Neuroleptics are administered to young people in large dosages to quiet them down, etc as well which can lead to Parkinsonian type tremors later in adult life.
