#HighSpeedRail #USA #Amtrak
Will A High Speed Rail Network Ever Be Built In The U.S.?
stop with yur american dream. the reason why you can’t built high-speed rail is because the persidential bullet car./
Yes build one
We need one for America
I would love High Speed Rail across the US. It would allow you to live in cheaper parts of the country and still go where the jobs are.
Railways the most unofficient idiotic thing in the world, we have plans! No need to cut forests, no need for 1000s of imminent domains, just with what it cost in CA we can buy a plan ticket for very single person in the state…
I don’t think 2 trillion dollars would be enough for those high speed rail networks.
What about how affordable were the adventures in Iraq and Afghanistan?
It just takes 25% of the Afghanistan war budget to replace all the interstate highways with HSR.
But it wont make the 1% got even richer
Our progress to connect our major cities with bullet trains has nothing to do with our technologies but rather with politics, eminent domain law and our due process of allowing our citizens to drag their cases in court. That’s the price of freedom we have to pay, no shortcut around it. We will just have to learn to live with it. Any politicians regardkess of the party who promises you this and that are not being honest.
BUt AMeRica iS TOo SprEAD oUt For rAiL tO make siNCe
No….itll be canceled because it’s shaped like a c*ck and that’s toxic masculinity
India is also building it’s first bullet train which should have been completed by 2023
But there is a political party opposing this and yes DEMOCRACY SUCKS
usa is a third world country
since 1960’s…..if we were investing in that we could have had most of the country connected with high speed rail by now and been a leader in the field…..driving “makes sense” because we have been dumping trillions into roads and bridges for decades and neglecting rail and public transit. Traffic is getting worse around the country. California highway has like 12 lanes in some parts. Its unsustainable.
Indonesia and Laos are about to have their first high-speed rails.
Why a 100Bn California project is expensive? We spent 20x of that amount in Afghanistan for absolute nothing
Nothing? we created chaos in Asia so other country their are always in war. 😜
Not possible due to liberal environmental regulations. Takes FOREVER to go through all of the environmental approval processes.
Why is the US building high-speed rail? We thought the US thinks the trains are obsolete and no longer suitable in todays world.
Environmental clearance for expressways is never an issue?

I’m still waiting after two years for a pothole to be fixed, don’t hold your breath
Why can’t the US just build electric lines on the existing Amtrak rail network and make diesel ones defunct. Besides, the vast freight train network is already vast and regular passenger diesel ones could easily use it frequently
Amtrak is already largely electrified in the parts of the country where that investment makes sense.
Acela’s top speed is 150 mph, and soon to be 160 mph…
I never understood why we couldn’t have had this from along ago what’s wrong with America that other countries have all these amazing ideas and we don’t
Well since where no longer in war with Afgan the next $2 Trillion dollars can go into investing on Medical, High Speed Train, & End this “War on Poverty”. No need to raise or lower taxes we can just use that same money going to waste can go to other plans, but first I think it’s best we remove the $30 trillion US debt as lower debt = USD higher value worth.
It’s not politics, it’s straight up talk, if you have a different opinion that’s cool, but this is just my opinion on how we should spend those taxes
I am surprise we don’t have this in u.s. it would’ve help so much going to one state or another within a speed of light or another town over within 20mins.
Litigation will stop all high speed rail in the US.
No it will never be built. The oil companies and the auto manufactures, will make sure that it never happens.
“Amtrak’s Acela from DC to Boston is America’s first and only operational high-speed rail”… This is false. Acela is NOT high-speed rail (HSR), although does have some segments in which it reaches high-speed rail speeds (barely). HSR systems, such as the Japanese Shinkansen, French TGV, and Chinese CRH, have lines devoted to HSR trains and infrastructure entirely. Acela shares its line with regular freight lines, as well as local train lines. It also has at grade crossings with local roads, which HSR systems never have.
That’s why other countries like China will surpass US in terms of infrastructure soon.
China already surpassed the sleepy US last decade on infrastructure 🤣🤣🤣what are you talking about?
Buy a car is easy and growing old on highway
Some tend to forget the US used to have excellent public infrastructures which is the basis for development of private sectors.
Lollllll funny people with stupid reason
The best solution is the one that suits you, just because other people have it does not mean you have to have it too.
Nope. Only way to get hsr in America is to literally sell the country out to China. American state governments are simply too dumb and corrupt to accomplish such a feat. Imagine you need 10years just to do an environmental review.
Our shield shouldn’t be more valuable than what it is guarding. In other words, what will we have to protect if all of our money is spent on military?
No, I don’t think there will be. Because this country is independent and individual everything. Sharing a building and a vehicle is considered terrorism.
It’s not that simple, the US needs public transportation such as subways and buses to support high-speed rail. if I still need rent a car at point B, instead of taking the train, I might just drive all the way
It will never get passed. Trains are for filthy communists who hate cars and freedom. (Sarcasm of course)
No?
Lol. People are still having to be told not to take horse and sheep dewormer. Let’s focus on basic skills of survival before we go high speed ….
You can dreams.
India can help
There are too many dirty politics going on in US. Don’t think it is possible to build a HSR network across US. Don’t think China is interested to get involved neither!
Morocco did it!! So come ooon guys 🚅
It’s because America is an oligarchy. Literally millions have been spent from airlines/car companies bribing politicians and brainwashing Americans that waiting hours in airports/traffic is preferable to building spacious dedicated train networks that can zoom upwards of 300 miles/hr. Keeping dinosaur low-speed rail services just makes it easier for the elites in charge to point and say “hey look, rail is inefficient”. Most Americans have no idea what they are missing…
As an African i really feel bad for other 3rd world countries including US
It’s always too expensive unless it involves war. We can always pay for war.
why do you need a high speed rail when you have democracy?
The 3.5 trillion package that’s in the house now should be repurposed for high speed rail 🚈
Its never gonna happen. Americans have studpidly decided to design their cities around cars and not humans. So even if a train gets built, people still have to use a car to get to and from the station. Most people would rather just drive.
last mile infrastructure like pedestrian and local public transportation is also hindrance in high speed rail infrastructure
in united states you can’t go anywhere without a car
competition breed something that bring the most money to the investor
We will have regional high speed trains like the Boston-NY-DC route, the Houston-Dallas route, and the SF-LA route, but the continent is too big for high speed trains between the coasts, and there isn’t enough demand for long distance interior routes. European countries are small, and Japan is small, with cities close together. It makes sense to have high speed trains there. We have a perfectly fine network of Southwest fights here in the US and that’s much more economical to build and maintain.
I don’t believe the current interstate lines being developed are all that practical. Miami > Orlando is such a short commute. I seriously doubt many will take a train to save 30 minutes of travel time, and then proceed to spend $100/day on a car rental when they could have just brought their own car along. A national line has more appeal but it won’t be as fast as flying, so it’s sort of a dud project imo
First of all, they already did this with the highway system, they can do it for rail.
Secondly, why not convert some of that highway space into rails? Most highways have a patch of grass in the middle anyway.
The government will not create a high speed rail because they are intertwined with the auto industry and the auto industry does not want to compete with trains. They want any trip less than 6 hours to be done in a car not anything else.
I dont think so only county in the world who needed stimulus for the airline to keep alive during pandemic
India is also building high speed rail network.
I’ll buy a high-speed rail for Philadelphia.
USA: “Look, we’re gonna build a high speed train!”
Japan shinkansen: “Ha ha ha… you round-eyes are so funny!”
HST in USA is….☹️☹️☹️
US wasting money on unnecessary wars and bailout. Meanwhile China is investing their money in their economy by building more and more infrastructure which gonna help them in the long run to be more competitive. China will b the world biggest economy in a few short years and its impossible for US to catch up since US made minimal investment in its economy.
Honestly I would want the US to first invest in regular rail travel before moving to high speed. There aren’t even enough tunnels below the Hudson River in New York causing terrible bottle necking. We’re almost acting like our regular railroads are totally fine when we need to invest in that for improvement before we ever invest in high speed rail in my opinion.
No
Answer – No.
Too expensive and too many of our elected officials hate Infrastructure.
Oh they also hate clean energy and you can’t have highspeed with coal.
No. That would require collaboration, which isn’t a thing anymore.
USA subways is the worse subways I’ve ever been and see.its disgusting too
No
Lol
The acelas top speed is 150mph not 135. This is false information.
Sadly this is just a fake news, America is in debts and inflation is coming, and now is paying people to not commit crimes ?😂😂😂 if America want bullets trains they have done it lonk times ago, just because they dont have the money to do it, currption in america is worst than latin america.
Lol…
Allow china to build it. With 1/10 of the price and voila you will have a high speed train by next year.
Why not just replace the am track
Short answer is no. Long answer has to do with what money is used for. They used $2.2 trillion for a twenty year war that killed so many Americans and Iraqi and Afghan people, yet when it comes to making our lives better and easier they claim we don’t have money. So, if we don’t have money where did the $2.2 trillion come from?
One can only dream
US population density just don’t support a project like this, especially when many city design is oriented around cars….like why would anyone drive to a high speed rail station then ride it, then rent another car to continue their travel? (when there are airplane that is potentially cheaper and faster) It just doesn’t make any sense at all. Besides a few parts of the east coast, there is literally no other place in the US that would even come close to having the demand for such utility. Right now, if you just upgrade the existing train network, it would be a better investment than human-transport-use high speed rail. China government’s high speed rail department budget is in deeply in red to run the state high speed rail network, and it is estimated to never be profitable before commercial transport be available, while Japanese high speed rail is literally only a link in a vast network of public transport that vast majority of ppl rely on instead of car. In both cases, it requires long term government investment and high population density, which we know US is not capable of mustering. Please just upgrade existing network and add a few profitable lines..
In Korea, high-speed train is more expensive than a flight.
(Seoul to Busan)
Flight : $30
High-speed train : $60
Bullet train in Tibet

If only the 2 trillion we wasted in Afghanistan had gone to actual infrastructure!
America is full of SELFISH & SELF serving people that keeps America in the dust.
America peaked in the 70s. Make way, America.
Ford and GM said no thank you!
By the time US builts one, China will have warp speed trains and landed astronauts on planet Mars!
ask china if they could help your country to build it
2:39 They chose a clip of Israel?????
Yes, if China help U.S. build one. 😉
…HSR ? Good luck , take a ride at NYC subway stations you will realize HSR in the US is just dream. They won’t even bother updating their existing subway. good luck with the HSR
We will get there.
The USA is a decaying empire of misery, failure and waste. No meaningful infrastructure will get built, especially high speed rail.
If the oil runs out
They have 20 trillion dollar economy but they can’t even make high speed rail?
No because is 80$ round trip to vegas so it better be 40$ round trip
To answer the question from this video from NBC News, yes. /
So 200 billions for the whole project and approx 180 billions are just for lawsuits, omg. this is crazy.
Of course not, the world’s going to end. Why are we even talking about this?
Our only high speed rail is like a normal rail. Marvelous news.
What’s the point ? I would never use it
$2 trillion on making PUBG and Fortnite facilities
What do u mean We do have a high speed rail way it goes a whooping 25 mph
If the america wants to make this train they should request to China or Japan.
