The flow of lava from a volcano on the Canary Islands has slowed but there is fear it could still cause more damage, prompting further evacuation orders for another three towns.
Even firefighters are now being told to retreat from certain areas due to worsening conditions.
The volcano on La Palma island erupted six days ago.
Hundreds of homes have since been destroyed.
Al Jazeera’s Nicolas Haque reports from the village of Tazacorte.

Iceland is used to volcanic eruptions. They know how to deal and with them and even utilize the geothermal energy for their own gain. Spain on the other hand is a different scenario. They have volcanoes, but they’re probably not as well studied as like in Iceland or Japan or Indonesia. Thus ideas like what you said probably don’t occur to them as they don’t know about it.

Just like here in northern California. No volcano, however, the forest fires are so massive, all that is left is ashes.
